The Zeti Zapper[1] is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by IDW Publishing. It is a device created by Miles "Tails" Prower for the purpose of neutralizing the electromagnetic powers of Zeti.
Description[]
Appearance[]
Zeti Zappers resemble blue and flat disk-shaped badges with three yellow prongs protruding in a triangle shape for attaching the Zeti Zappers to the body. Additionally, they possess an orange and white decal on their faces resembling Tails' twin tails.[1]
Features and traits[]
Zeti Zappers are capable of turning a Zeti's electromagnetic powers against them when attached to one, effectively disabling them.[1] Once equipped to a Zeti, the Zeti Zapper will produce electrical surges around said Zeti, which Zor has described as being agonizingly painful.[2] According to Tails, the Zeti Zappers also have safe-guards built into them in case a Zeti tries to take it off manually.[1] They are also programmed to deactivate once a Zeti has been brought to the Lost Hex.[3]
Prototype Zeti Zappers have more limited capabilities, being only capable of stopping any wireless signals coming in or out. When attached to robots, these Zeti Zappers will render said robots immune to outside command signals, although the initial attachment will be painful.[4]
History[]
Zeti Hunt![]
Knowing they would deal with the Deadly Six, Tails created several Zeti Zappers by reverse-engineering Zavok's old Chaos Emerald Siphon, one of which he presented and explained to Sonic, Jewel, and Team Chaotix during an online conference with them, their plan being to capture the Deadly Six with the Zeti Zappers and then sent them back to the Lost Hex in Zeti Launchers. Soon, however, when Tails received notice of the Restoration HQ being assaulted by the Deadly Six, he packed several Zeti Zappers in a bag before scrambling to start up the Tornado.[1] Making it to Restoration HQ in the last possible moment, Tails used a Zeti Zapper to neutralize Zomom when he had Sonic. Then, by working together, Sonic and Tails attached a Zeti Zapper to the remainder of the Deadly Six, incapacitating the whole group.[2] With all of the Deadly Six under the influence of the Zeti Zappers, which not even Zavok could overcome, the group surrendered and got deported back home. After the Deadly Six were back on the Lost Hex, the Zeti Zappers deactivated and released their prisoners.[3]
Trial by Fire[]
When Belle got taken over by a foreign command signal in his workshop, Tails managed to find and attach a prototype Zeti Zapper to her. Though the attachment was painful, the device also liberated her from the control signal. Belle would continue to wear the device as she made her way to Eggperial City.[4]
Battle for the Empire[]
Carrying the Zeti Zapper into Eggperial City, Belle would use herself as a router for Metal Sonic when she repaired him, allowing the Zeti Zapper on her to keep the command signal in the city from controlling Metal Sonic too.[5]
