The Zaririn (ザリリン Zairin?)[1] is an enemy that appears in the 8-bit version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. They are crayfish-based Badnik models created by Dr. Eggman.

Zaririns are small, chili red Badniks based on crayfishes. They have got pincers and tail fan at the end of its pleon.

Zaririn lurking behind Sonic at Aqua Lake Zone.

Zaririn in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (8-bit) can only be found only at underwater sections of Aqua Lake Zone, usually swimming back and forth or hovering at one place.

Zaririn does not attack at Sonic unless he approaches closer to it. It swims simply towards him. On high corridor sections with larger Air Bubbles that the player can use, Zaririns are found lurking on each corners, as they can pop the Air Bubble if the player is far close to them.

Despite the charging attack, the player can simply defeat them by performing the Spin Jump. Like many other Badniks in the game, Drillins do not contain any Animals.

  • "Zaririn" is a variation of the word "Zarigani" (ザリガニ?), meaning crayfish in Japanese.
