YouTube is an American video-sharing website headquartered in San Bruno, California. The company was founded in 2005 by Steve Chen, Chad Hurley and Jawed Karim.

The Sonic the Hedgehog series debuted their official channels on the website in the early 2010s. Sega and Sonic Team have since produced various animations for the site ever since alongside using the channels to announce upcoming projects or post miscellaneous side content such as music, interviews, and memes.

History[]

On 25 February 2013, Sega set up the official Japanese Sonic the Hedgehog channel with it's first video uploaded being a video advertising both Sonic Adventure 2 and Nights into Dreams being ported to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on the same day.[1]

An English channel would be set up a year later on 26 June 2014 with it's first upload being a recap of the announcement of the Sonic Boom spinoff series.[2]
