The Yellow Tail is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is one of the Extreme Gears constructed by Miles "Tails" Prower so that the rest of the team could keep up with Sonic the Hedgehog during their missions.[1]

Description

The Yellow Tail's design is that of a metal plated yellow-orange board with a yellow stripe ringing around it. It also has a rectangular foot panel with recesses in the center of its top surface.

History

Sonic Riders

After Sonic returned to Freedom HQ, beaten and bruised by the Babylon Rogues, the hedgehog was at a loss of how to stop this group, who had promised to come to attack Knothole the next day. Tails, however, presented a solution to this problem, by giving themselves their own Extreme Gear, the Yellow Tail included, so they could face the Rogues on even grounds. While Knuckles took a look on the Yellow Tail, Tails pointed out that though the boards were prototypes, they were all functional.[1]

The next day, Tails arrived on the Yellow Tail outside of Knothole, along with Sonic and Knuckles on their own Extreme Gear, and managed to intercept the Babylon Rogues with their Extreme Gear. Tails himself squared off against Wave on his Yellow Tail, though Wave dismissed the Yellow Tail as a piece of junk, much to Tails' anger. Eventually though, the heroes were successful in defeating the Babylon Rogues and driving them off.[1]
