A rowdy and talkative boy who idolizes Gwek, and swallows the elder's tall tales hook, line and sinker. Not long ago, Yawa journeyed into the Savannah to punch out elephants, but got lost. Thankfully, he made it home without incident.
While living in his village, Yawa listened to his grandfather Gwek's exaggerated tales about his adventures in his youth. Yawa, however, believed all of his grandfather's stories and came to greatly idolize Gwek, believing him to be a great man. At some point, Yawa ventured out into the savannah to punch out some elephants, but ended up getting lost. Fortunately, Yawa made it back home without any incidents. At some point after Dr. Eggman established his base near Mazuri, Yawa managed to take a look on the doctor's base, though the sight of it made him uncomfortable.
Not long after Sonic the Werehog, Tails and Chip returned to Spagonia with Professor Pickle, Yawa and his village were attacked by Dr. Eggman in his search for the Gaia Temple. There, Yawa and the rest of the village's men stood as the front line of defense against Dr. Eggman's Egg Fighters, and Yawa demanded of the doctor to know who he was. All the while, Yawa noticed how calm Gwek appeared in front of Eggman, which only increased his respect for the elder. After Kwod hit Eggman with a rock, Yawa prepared for the worst as his grandfather ordered the villagers to stay back and avoid provoking the doctor further, but fortunately, Yawa and the other villagers were saved by Sonic the Hedgehog, who managed drive Eggman's forces off. As the doctor left, Yawa remained solemnly watchful, while the rest of village thanked Sonic for saving them. After everyone in the village had settled down, Yawa told Sonic how impressed he was at his grandfather for not flinching in the face of Eggman and called him a great man.
After Sonic and Chip left the village to find Eggman, Yawa followed the duo without them knowing it, and saw Sonic defeat the Egg Beetle, before returning to the village. When Sonic and Chip returned after restoring Mazuri's continent, Yawa met up with the duo and told them in amazement how he had seen the battle and that he definitely did not want to go up against Sonic.
A while later, Yawa met Sonic and Chip again when they passed through his village. Having heard stories about how they traveled across the world helping people, Yawa told them that they were amazing before asking them where they were going next. As Sonic told him that Chun-nan was their next stop, Yawa admitted that he had never heard of this place, but responded enthusiastically that it sounded exciting.
A while afterwards, Yawa learned that Gwek had stepped down as the village elder and had begun traveling across the world. Yawa, however, could not understand why his grandfather decided to quit as the village elder without rhythm or reason, though he had faith it was for a good reason. He therefore decided to secretly follow his grandfather, determined to find the reason.
Yawa continued to follow Gwek, and eventually arrived in Chun-nan. While remaining hidden from Gwek, Yawa studied his grandfather's action from afar. While observing Gwek, however, Yawa met Sonic and Chip again, where he told them to be quiet when they tried to talk to him so they could not give him away, before explained how he was following Gwek and his reasons for doing so.
When Gwek traveled to Spagonia, Yawa followed him there, where he continued to observe Gwek from afar in hiding. As he saw Gwek standing in one place for a long time, Yawa deduced things such as that he was getting in touch with the planet’s energy, was silently conversing with the spirits of the wind or just standing in deep personal contemplation, which made him more impressed at his grandfather and his (assumed) inner balance. While watching his grandfather in Spagonia, Yawa was met by Sonic and Chip once more. However, again, Yawa told them to be quiet, and explained to them his current actions. Nevertheless, Yawa filled Sonic and Chip in on what he had deduced from Gwek and told them about how great he thought Gwek was and how you could feel the unwavering determination emanating from him.
At the time Gwek returned to Mazuri from his travels, Yawa had come to the conclusion that his grandfather stepped down as the village elder to undertake a great journey of enlightenment and intense spiritual vision to build up the power to protect the village. After making it back to Mazuri, Yawa met Sonic and Chip again when they paid another visit to the village, where Yawa told them with great pride that his grandfather was the greatest and what he believed was the reason for Gwek stepping down as the elder, before stating that he knew for certain that it was all for the good of the village.
Sometime afterwards, Yawa decided to confront Gwek to get some answers and asked him directly of why he decided to step down as the elder, where he was surprised to hear that Gwek choose to retire because he realized that he could not handle the job anymore after Eggman's attack. Yawa, however, did not lose any respect for Gwek and was rather amazed at his grandfather as he had him totally fooled that he was on a spiritual journey.
Yawa later joined the rest of his village in watching in horror as the earth was engulfed in dark energy by Dark Gaia, then celebrating when the world returned to normal following the victory of Super Sonic and the Gaia Colossus over Perfect Dark Gaia.
