Come to me, my Witchcarters! There's work to do!

Wendy Naugus, Sonic the Hedgehog #276

The Witchcarters, also referred to as Team Witchcarter,[1] is a trio that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. They are a trio of mobian thugs working for Wendy Naugus.[2]

History[]

Past[]

At some point in the past, Wendy Naugus met the Witchcarters and used her mind control to force them to become her minions. The Witchcarters once aided Wendy Naugus in her conquest of an island. However, the trio were defeated one-by-one by Miles "Tails" Prower who had come to their island in search of Sonic the Hedgehog, before the fox defeated Wendy as well.[3][4]

Shattered World Crisis[]

Act Two[]

Sometime later, the Witchcarters joined Wendy and Walter Naugus in an invasion of Eggman Land shortly after it became operational.[2] The trio ambushed Dr. Eggman when he came to inspect the Summoning Spire. The trio battled both him and Metal Sonic, with Eggman discovering they had absorbed some of the Dark Gaia energy the Naugus twins had stolen from the refinery, which gave them new dark energy-based powers. Although Eggman himself escaped, they gained a new ally as their masters transformed Metal Sonic into "Crystal Sonic".[3][5] In response to his defeat, Eggman called in his Egg Bosses to reclaim the facility from the Naugus twins and their minions.[3]

Soon, Lord Mordred Hood and Conquering Storm were sent to take out the Witchcarters, who quickly engaged them.[6] After a fight, Hood used his vertigo-inducers on the trio, revealing that they had been brainwashed for years and were desperate to get revenge on Wendy. They willingly joined forces with the Egg Bosses in confronting their former masters, but Wendy easily took control of them again, forcing them to fight the Egg Bosses once again.[5] They were eventually subdued and Hood kept them down while Eggman defeated the Naugus twins and Crystal Sonic. After Eggman made Wendy his newest Egg Boss, he betrayed the trio and allowed Wendy to turn them into her servants once more.[7]

The Witchcarters were soon assigned by Wendy to back up the Hooligans to rob the vaults of Castle Acorn to steal the Chaos Emeralds and the Gaia Keys.[8] The Witchcarters kept the palace guards at bay, and then prevented Gemerl from chasing after Metal Sonic.[1] However, Cream the Rabbit, Cheese the Chao, and Big the Cat soon came to Gemerl's rescue, forcing both the Witchcarters and the Hooligans to flee.[9]
