Ha ha ha ha ha ha!! Everything on this island belongs to me, the great witch Witchcart! I'll turn anyone who opposes me into crystals!

— Witchcart, Tails' Skypatrol[1]

Witchcart[2] (ウィチカート[1] Wichikāto?) is the main antagonist and final boss of Tails' Skypatrol. She is elderly human witch who rode around in a specialized rail cart, conquered an island, and fought Tails.

Appearance[]

Witchcart is an elderly human witch with tan skin, black eyes, white hair and a single tooth. For attire, she wears a black rob and witch hat with red inside, and red shoes.

History[]

Games[]

Tails' Skypatrol[]

Having arrived on an island with her henchmen, Witchcart was riding around in her rail cart while claiming the island as her own and threatening to turn any dissenters into crystal. She then called upon her henchmen Hocke-Wulf, Bearenger, and Carrottia, as well as an army of robots, to assist in her evil scheme.[1] However, Witchcart soon found herself threatened by Miles "Tails" Prower who had set out to free the island and its inhabitants from her tyranny. After being defeated by Tails, Witchcart was hauled up out of her destroyed rail cart by the fox and thrown away.

Personality[]

While you were fighting all of my chums, you missed something wicked this way comes!

— Witchcart, Sonic the Hedgehog: Tails' 30th Anniversary Special

Witchcart behaves like a typical evil witch, cackling and taking pleasure in attacking others with magic, even referring to herself as wicked. She has a big ego, as shown by how she remodel a large statue of Eggman in Panic Puppet Fortress to look more like her. Witchcart has a habit of rhyming everything she says and takes great pride in her rhymes, considering them art. She also has a short temper as she yells at the Witchcarters to get more Flickies after Sonic attacks them as well as becomes quite offended by Tails when he calls a one her her rhymes "a slant rhyme at best". By her own admission, Witchcart is also impatient.[3]

Powers and abilities[]

Witchcart appears to be an engineer as she builds several railways for her to ride her minecart on, as well as mechanical cages for the Flickies and a giant, metal statue of herself.[3]

Weapons[]

Witchcart possesses a magic wand which can fire green energy bolts which create crystals wherever they strike. If her energy bolts strike a person, the person will be encased in crystal. Her wand can fire three energy bolts at once.

Relationships[]

Witchcarters[]

The Witchcarters are known to be her henchmen and will follow her orders. When they failed to stop tails during their first encounter, they would head over to Flicky Island and kidnap flickies buy when they were off task, she got angry at them, but they are on good terms with each other.

Miles "Tails" Prower[]

When She first encountered Miles "Tails" Prower she hated the fox with a passion due to him foiling her evil scheme. Sometime later Tails would bring Sonic and the witch assumes that the fox is less than her until Tails defeats her once again on Flicky Island. She has grown a deep hatred for the fox even trapping her in crystal making her no friend or acquaintance of Tails but rather a forever.

Friends/allies[]

Enemies[]

Battle[]

Witchcart is fought at the end of Dark Castle. Unlike the other bosses, Witchcart does not use a flying vehicle, but instead rides a rail cart which is similar to regular in-game objects called Trucks.

Boss guide[]

Reaching Witchcart may be risky as the player has to avoid touching the ground and as well as the ceiling while attacking her. Witchcart continuously throws small bombs and fires magical energy blasts, which the player can dispatch by using Tails's Boomering which grants a hundred points each. Witchcart’s magic blasts have a homing effect.

Like many of the previous boss battles, the player has to land twenty hits or use the Tails' Ring to toss Witchcart into the ground four times to defeat her.

Witchcarters - Tails' 30th Anniversary

Witchcart and her minions, from Sonic the Hedgehog: Tails' 30th Anniversary Special

At some point, Witchcart and her minions invaded Flicky Island and kidnapped all the Flickies to learn their secrets while also covering the island in crystals and railways.[3]

While Sonic is busy battling the Witchcarters, Witchcart traps him within crystal using her wand and chants her victory in rhyme (Much to Sonic's annoyance) before cackling off with him.[3]

Soon, at Panic Puppet Fortress, Witchcart arrives with the frozen Sonic and checks up on her kidnapped Flickies while monologing in rhyme. Tails shows up with devices he got from defeating all three Witchcarters and criticizes her rhyming. This angers Witchcart who then gives chase to the Fox, attempting to blast him with her wand. Tails' shoots Carrottia's carrot launcher at her, which she dodges. She taunts Tails for missing, only for it to turn out he was actually aiming at the crystalized Sonic, freeing him. Witchcart then puts her focus on Sonic, however the Hedgehog dodges all of her attacks. With the stress of having two opponents at once, Witchcart decides to make a retreat. Tails continues to chase her, and when she tries to shoot Tails with her wand again he deflects the attack using Hocke-Wulf's repulsor unit, causing it to hit and crystallize her instead. Now trapped inside her own crystal, she is stuck angrily watching Sonic and Tails free the rest of the Flickies, who then surround her.[3]

Trivia[]

  • Witchcart has several inconsistencies between her in-game design and that shown in the box artwork for Tails' Skypatrol. In the box artwork, her white hair has been interpreted as a white brim on her hat, while the red underside of her hat's brim has been interpreted as what appears to be a lock of red hair. Her rail cart also sports a more simplistic design.
  • In IDW Publishing, Witchcart speaks in rhymes, a trait that might have been inspired by Gruntilda, another witch character from the Banjo Kazooie series.
