Windy Hill is the first and default playable stage in Sonic Runners.
Overview[]
Windy Hill is a grassy setting level, with lush green trees and simple plant life, a trait followed by most first levels of the Sonic the Hedgehog series video games. Checkerboard soil and tiny lakes are present in the level. No actual wind breezes appear.

The stage is ideal for Speed Type characters.

Windy Hill in Spring Event[]
Merlina introduced in the event's notification.
The Easter Event for Sonic Runners, introducing the first Special Stage in the game called "Windy Hill in Spring", available from 30 March 2015 to 6 April 2015. By collecting Easter Eggs in this stage, players are able to climb up the rankings, unlock several prizes, and proceed in new Story Events along the way. The Event also introduced three new buddies: Merlina, Easter Bunny, and Easter Chao. While the former can be unlocked and leveled up by proceeding in the Event, the latter two are only available through the Premium Roulette.

Happy Birthday Sonic![]
Classic Sonic in the event's special stage.
The 24th anniversary Event for Sonic the Hedgehog which began on 24 June 2015. This Event offered Classic Sonic as a playable character, a new Special Stage, and three exclusive buddies: The Sega Genesis, The Death Egg, and Cartridge. In this Special Stage, some of the collectibles are replaced with Birthday Cakes which the player can collect to get rewards like Items, Wisps, Red Star Rings, etc. The Special Stage was available until 7 July 2015, while Classic Sonic was available to 10 July 2015.

Special Stage Event: Windy Hill in Spring[]
2016 Easter event.
The second Easter Event for Sonic Runners, like before it is a "Windy Hill in Spring" event, available from 19 March to 28 March. Instead of being an episode, it is a Timed Mode event where collecting clocks prolong gameplay. By collecting Easter Eggs in this stage, players are able to climb up the rankings, unlock several prizes, and proceed in new Story Events along the way.

Special Stage Event: Birthday on Windy Hill[]
In celebration of Sonic's 25th anniversary, from 18 June the birthday themed Windy Hill is available only in Timed Mode until 29 June. By collecting cake in this stage, players are able to climb up the rankings.
