Plot[]

Picking up from the last episode,Wade informs Willoughby that Knuckles is on his way to the penthouse, demanding that they let his mother and sister free once the deed is done. Willoughby seemingly complies as she readies her gun. When the elevator reaches the penthouse, Willoughby immediately fires at it the moment it's doors open. However, once the smoke from the shots cleared away, she's suprised to see that all there inside was Knuckles' hat and a red mascot costume.

Confused, Willoughby and Mason look up and see Knuckles had pinned himself to the elevator ceiling before dropping down and punching both of them. Wade soon went on to tell the two that he anticipated his father's deception, so he had Knuckles wear a wireless BlueTooth earpiece so the latter can hear what they planned to do, and tell them that they messed with the wrong warrior.

Knuckles immediately begins fighting the agents while Wade sneaks into the bedroom to reach Wendy and Wanda. Wade intends to unlock their handcuffs using a master key Tom gave him. However, Wanda, won't let Wade unlock her handcuffs, instead, she does an FBI thing, where she dislocates her thumb and slip out of her cuffs after Wade unlocks their mother’s, ignoring the protests from both Wade and Wendy. Meanwhile, Willoughby fires two Rings at Knuckles, who hits them back, creating opposing portals that suck both Mason and Willoughby in before the portals close on each other, seemingly killing them in the process. Just as Wanda manages to break her thumb and escape her cuffs, she briefly embraces Wendy. Knuckles then reminds Wade about the upcoming bowling tournament so that Wade can face his father.

At the tournament, Wade's father, "Pistol" Pete Whipple, made his entrance to the bowling alley. But after the commentators had finished Wade's introduction, Wade still hadn't entered the alley. After repeating the introduction multiple times, Wade was still not there. Pete, thinking Wade was either distracted or killed by Agents Willoughby and Mason, concluded that Wade wasn't going to make it, lifting up the trophy and announcing to the audience that he wins the tournament by default. Suddenly, Wade shows up, telling Pete to put the trophy down. Pete insults Wade multiple times, saying nobody knows "who the hell he is". Despite Pete's attempts at making Wade surrender, Wade refuses to give up, starting the game and getting a strike on the first frame.

At the bar, Knuckles watches the tournament on a TV screen. He comments to a blue mascot character sitting next to him that Earth is "truly a strange little planet." Knuckles orders a large challah bread, possibly because he enjoyed it after having a Jewish meal with the Whipples in a previous episode. As the tournament continues, both teams compete fiercely, each scoring strikes. While Knuckles is engrossed in the tournament, he suddenly hears a scream from outside the building. Rushing out to investigate, he is caught off-guard and beaten up by The Buyer's mech. In the final moment of the tournament, Pete manages to get a spare, giving Wade a chance to score a strike and win. Pete challenges Wade, asking if he is strong enough to beat his own father. Wade responds that he has learned a lot from his family and from Knuckles. Pete tries to undermine Wade's confidence once again, calling him a loser, but Wade proves him wrong by successfully scoring a strike and winning the tournament. Just as Wade begins to celebrate his victory, Knuckles is thrown into the bowling alley, urging Wade to get everyone to safety before being pulled back outside by The Buyer. While everyone else runs away in a panic, Wade courageously rushes outside to help Knuckles.

The Buyer drains all of Knuckles' power, absorbing it into his mech, which knocks Knuckles out cold. Wade stands up to The Buyer but realizes that he is bluffing once his mech starts getting closer to him. Wendy and Wanda give Wade backup, giving him Agent Mason's gauntlets and some bowling balls to throw at The Buyer's mech. Wade encourages Knuckles, telling him everything they have accomplished throughout the adventure. Just as Wade is out of bowling balls, Knuckles wakes up and gets his power back from The Buyer's mech, unleashing The Flames of Disaster. Knuckles performs a Drill Attack on the mech, destroying both its arms, and then jumps in the air. Wade rushes and sees Knuckles heading for the giant ball over the National Bowling Stadium. Wade launches one of his gauntlets at the giant ball, causing it to fall. Knuckles grabs the ball and throws it on the mech, killing the Buyer. The bowling commentators make a comment, saying how similar the incident was to a 1974 tourney where an extraterrestrial also showed up, but unlike Knuckles, it was not red. Pete makes an attempt to steal the trophy even though he lost, but is knocked out by Wendy, letting Wade pick up the trophy and celebrate the victory with Knuckles. Shortly after this, in a post credit scene, both Knuckles and Wade start driving back to Green Hills on their motorcycle while listening to Wade's new music mix.

Regional differences[]

  • In the French dub, Dylan explains that an extraterrestrial visited the bowling tournament in 1994 instead of 1974.

Trivia[]

  • The title of the episode is a spin on the phrase "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas".
  • The Buyer's death in this episode is first human character to die onscreen in the Sonic the Cinematic Universe and first human character on a Sonic the Hedgehog show since Molly's death in the Japanese version of Sonic X.
  • Notably, this episode is one of the rare instances of swearing in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, as the words "Damn" and "Hell" are uttered several times throughout the episode.
    • Coincidentally, similar to the previous "Trivia" pointer, Shadow the Hedgehog has said the word "Damn" before, most notably several times in his 2005 eponymous game.[11][12]
  • Knuckles' scream where he saves Wade from The Buyer was reused four times in Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
  • The scene where Knuckles eats challah bread, and the scene where Wade says the line "The Flames of Disaster!", became internet memes.[13][14]
