The Werehog is a transformation that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a werewolf-like transformation of Sonic the Hedgehog from an alternate reality, which he gained when Dr. Eggman drained the Chaos Emeralds power from him with a special machine.
In this form, Sonic gains some minor feral behavior, but when exposed to sunlight he reverts back to normal.[1]
Appearance[]
In this form, Sonic grows slighting larger and significantly bulkier, with his torso becoming broader, his hands getting larger, and his arms growing out of proportions and muscular. Additionally, he grows sharp nail-like sharp claws on his fingers, his teeth becomes fangs, and his muzzle becomes noticeably longer. Also, his skin turns light blue while his fur turns gray/dark blue and becomes lush and heavy and grows out in places where he did not have it earlier, such as his arms and chest, with traits of white fur on his wrists, the end of his quills and on his chest.
For attire, Sonic loses his white gloves, exposing his hands, and his socks becomes slightly frilled in the back. The white stripe on his shoes is replaced with grey metal that has three spikes on the surface, and his soles become covered with small metal spikes.
History[]
After destroying Eggman's Space Armada, Sonic confronted Dr. Eggman onboard a space station as Super Sonic. Feigning defeat, Eggman surrendered and Sonic prepared to leave, only for the doctor to trap Super Sonic in a machine that drained the Chaos Emeralds' power from him. As Dr. Eggman used the power to fire a weapon to shatter the world and unleash "it", Sonic transformed into the Werehog and charged towards him. However, Sonic was ejected from the station by Eggman along with the powerless Chaos Emeralds and fell back down to the planet. Sonic later woke up back on the planet's surface in the outskirts of Windmill Isle, alive and in his Werehog form, just as dawn broke and he saw himself revert back to normal. With nothing but a bunch of questions on his mind, Sonic set out to find Eggman to get some answers.[1]
Powers and abilities[]
The Werehog possesses powerful claws sharp enough to cut deep into metal. Additionally, the Werehog is rather durable, being able to survive a fall high enough to leave a deep impact in the ground.[1]
Trivia[]
- This transformation marks the first appearance of Sonic the Werehog in the Archie Comics. The Werehog would first make its official appearance in the main storyline in Sonic the Hedgehog #264 where Sonic Prime would become the Werehog.
