The Warp Field Driver[1] (マスタードライブ Masutā Doraibu?, lit. "Master Drive") is an object that appears in the Sonic X anime series. It is the warp drive of the Blue Typhoon.

Description[]

Warp Space

The Warp Field Driver taking the Blue Typhoon into warp space.

The Warp Field Driver takes up much of the Blue Typhoon. When activated, it generates a "warp ring" on the bow of the ship and projects it into space as a portal at the size of the Blue Typhoon. Upon passing through it, the Blue Typhoon is enveloped in a multicolored aura as it enters warp space, where it can travel at faster-than-light speeds, thereby allowing it to cover great distances on a galactic scale in short periods of time.[1] When leaving warp space, the Blue Typhoon either warps into normal space or exits through another warp field.[1][2] Like everything else on the Blue Typhoon, it was powered by the Master Emerald.[1]

The Warp Field Driver was used by the Blue Typhoon's crew on a number of occasions to travel the galaxy in search of the Chaos Emeralds and do battles with the Metarex.[1][2] One time, the crew weaponized the Warp Field Driver when fighting the Scarship: by firing a warp field into the Scarship, it weakened its armor enough for Sonic to take it out with the Sonic Power Cannon.[3]
