The Wamu[1] (ワム[2]?) is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, rotifer-based Badnik model created by Dr. Eggman.

Appearance[]

Wamu-spr

The Wamus are based on rotifers. Their bodies each consists of six teal spheres with gray rings around them linked together, with the frontal sphere having two cartoonish black eyes and a pair of orange mandibles. They strongly resemble Catakiller, Jrs. more than rotifers, however.

Overview[]

Angel island zone 6

Sonic next to a Wamu, from Sonic Advance.

In Sonic Advance, the Wamus appear as enemies. They are only encountered in Angel Island Zone.

In gameplay, the Wamus' attack pattern is strongly based on the Catakiller, Jr.'s from Sonic the Hedgehog 3, with them only flying through the air within their designated areas. They lack electrical wave generation, however. The only way to destroy them is by attacking their heads with the Spin Jump; jumping into them anywhere else will cause the playable character to take damage. Also, upon their destruction, they will release an Animal.

Powers and abilities[]

The Wamu's only capability is flight, as they are unlike their predecessors, which can generate electricity from their segments, which Wamus lack.

Trivia[]

  • The Wamu's name is derived from wamushi, meaning "rotifer."
