The Walrus Male[2][3] is a character who appears in the Sonic Boom series. He is an anthropomorphic walrus and a blue collar working stiff[4] who lives on Seaside Island. He is also a member of the Village Council.

Appearance[]

The Walrus Male is an anthropomorphic walrus about Mayor Fink's height with lavender fur and magenta eyes. He has a large and round torso with stubby legs, thin arms, a medium-large head with no visible neck, and a wide muzzle with grey skin, short tusks and an orange snout. For attire, he wears a boater hat with a green grosgrain ribbon, white gloves, a Tyrian purple vest, green socks, and beige shoes. Sometimes, he uses a small cane.

In the Archie Comics, the Walrus Male has yellow fur, a much more peach muzzle and a white boater hat.

History[]

TV series[]

Season one[]

SB S1E10 Cubot Orbot musicians

The Walrus Male watching Orbot and Cubot's street act.

While in the Village Center, the Walrus Male would witness a terrible street performance put up by Orbot and Cubot.[5] He later came to see a show at T.W. Barker's Circus of Wonders.[6]

As the Walrus Male chatted with the Stratford, he and the villagers were rounded by Dr. Eggman when he invaded Seaside Island to face Eggman's Mega. Luckily, the Walrus Male and the villagers were saved when Knuckles made the Mega destroy itself with his current case of bad luck when he tried to join Eggman.[7] Following a visit at Meh Burger,[8] the Walrus Male found Eggman selling tomato sauce.[9] When Sonic ended up proving it was safe, the Walrus Male bought some cans of sauce for himself. A few weeks later though, he got attacked by his toaster which had been turned into a weapon by Eggman's sauce cans. Fortunately, he was saved from it after Team Sonic stopped Eggman.[9]

ChezAmyCustomers

The Walrus Male at Chez Amy.

While the world was stuck in a time loop that Eggman created, the Walrus Male kept visiting Meh Burger until the loop was broken, since he retained no memory of the recurring events.[10] Regardless, he continued his trips to Meh Burger.[11][12] Eventually, the Walrus Male got entangled in the Battle of the Buns between Chez Amy and Meh Burger. Depending on their gimmicks, the Walrus Male would switch between these restaurants, before settling at Chez Amy until Eggman destroyed it.[13] The Walrus Male later saw Swifty the Shrew come to the Village and quickly began adoring the shrew's sweet-wise style. So when Swifty had a race with Sonic, which the latter lost and got banished from the Village as his penalty, the Walrus Male stood by Swifty all the way. However, he was betrayed by Swifty when Eggman revealed Swifty was his robot agent. As Swifty robots ravaged the Village, the Walrus Male united with the Village Council and brought Sonic back in time for the hedgehog to stop Eggman's army.[14]

The Walrus Male later visited Knuckles while he filled in for Mayor Fink and the echidna approved a permit that let him built a treehouse. At the site though, the Walrus Male ended up in an argument with other villagers who had permits contradicting his.[15] Another time, the Walrus Male came to the premiere of Eggman's movie at Eggman's lair. Amidst the movie, he learned it was meant to enslave the audience with hypnotism, but had failed due to an error. The Walrus Male was thus sent away with the others.[16] Learning later that Sonic had been insensitive by calling Mike the Ox "just a guy", the Walrus Male joined an angry mob of fellow-minded villagers to reprimand Sonic. However, Sonic soon redeemed himself.[17] A while later, the Walrus Male witnessed Dave the Intern's pitiful attempt to use Octopus Bot against Sonic.[18]

SB S1E38 Walrus couple dance

The Walrus Male celebrating the New Year with Lady Walrus.

Coming to the New Year's celebration in the Village Center, the Walrus Male shared a dance with Lady Walrus. While dancing, Eggman used his Slow Motion Machine to slow down time long enough for him to beat Sonic in something before New Year, though the Walrus Male did not notice Eggman's victory as it happened too fast for him to see it.[19] The Walrus Male later came to Meh Burger and afterwards had a laugh from watching Tails do a dance.[20] He would likewise stop by in the Village Center to watch Bro-Down Showdown live for a while.[21] Reading the news later on, the Walrus Male learned Knuckles had become a celebrity for a trash can trend. He thus showered the echidna with admiration and adoration during his time of fame.[22] Another time, the Walrus Male joined a tour of Eggman's lair where he, to his shock, saw Sonic being accused of stealing Eggman's Particle Accelerator.[23]

The Walrus Male later came to the Robot Battle Royale, where he saw Eggman steal Tails' Hypnobot at the end.[24] Then, when a heatwave hit Seaside Island, the Walrus Male stayed comfortable by chatting at Meh Burger.[25] Following that, he would come to Puppy Con, where he witnessed Eggman's fruitless attempt to steal a rare playing piece.[26] Following another visit at Meh Burger,[27] the Walrus Male, along with the rest of the Village got attacked by Eggman's new Obliterator Bot which Team Sonic quickly stopped, earning them the Greatest Role Model of All Time Award.[28] As a new supervillain later arose, the Walrus Male would pay him no mind while having lunch.[29]

Season two[]

S2E01 Dave and villagers

The Walrus Male in line to see Tommy Thunder.

A fan of Tommy Thunder, the Walrus Male came to the movie star's latest movie promotion. There, he hailed Team Sonic after their latest victory over Eggman. The Walrus Male also showed up to hail Tommy after he "beat" Obliterator Bot.[30] Hearing later that an asteroid would impact the earth, the Walrus Male showed up to buy a spot in Eggman's bunker to ride out the impending apocalypse in. Although the Walrus Male did not get a spot, Team Sonic would stop the asteroid.[31]

Taking an interest Sticks' news podcast, the Walrus Male would come to her interviews after she got a TV news gig. As Sticks admitted she had sold herself out to the media though, the Walrus Male was inspired by the repentant Sticks to "fight the power." He and the villagers thus began a random revolt before getting calmed and directed into destroying Eggman's latest device when he showed it.[32] The Walrus Male was later in the Village Center where Sonic traveled to another plane of existence.[33] Another time, the Walrus Male had to deal with Mark the Tapir's impudence while waiting in line at the post office before taking a trip to the movies.[34] He would also come to Meh Burger Karaoke Night, where he saw Tails perform.[35]

HypnotizedVillagersV2

The Walrus Male hypnotized.

While subtly hypnotized by Dreamcaster's TV broadcasts, the Walrus Male angrily faced Sticks when she disturbed him with her unlikely story about Dreamcaster on TV. The Walrus Male soon after became Dr. Eggman's zombie slave, who had him and the hypnotized villagers build a world-controlling satellite. He would later attack Sticks when she came to the rescue, but was freed when Team Sonic foiled Eggman's plan.[36] When Tails later made a Village defense against Eggman, the Walrus Male would praise the fox at his trophy ceremony until Eggman arrived through a hole in the defense. With Tails' defense backfiring while Eggman was stopped, the Walrus Male joined the villagers scorning Tails afterward.[37]

Having a chat with Lady Walrus, the Walrus Male saw Sonic and Eggman pass by in their respective vehicles.[38] He later came to an edition of the Comedy Chimp Show, where he lost the show's give-away prize to Knuckles.[39] During a power outage in the Unnamed Village soon after, the Walrus Male began rioting alongside the others villagers.[40] Learning later that their village was named after Sticks' evil ancestor, Jebediah Badger, the Walrus Male began scorning Sticks. As a vote between Amy and Eggman's propositions for a new town name then came underway, the Walrus Male got enticed by Eggman's campaign. After voting at the referendum however, which Eggman used to get elected as Village leader, the Walrus Male kept away from Eggman's attempt to destroy the Village. As Sticks helped her team stop Eggman's plan and remove him from power though, the Walrus Male regretted scorning Sticks, who gave the Village a proper name.[41] Not long after, he went on a trip to the movies.[42] When Tails later seemingly proved Muckfoot's existence with a photo, the Walrus Male would praise Tails as a hero and take part in the ensuring Muckfoot Mania. However, he would scorn Tails when the fox showed that his "Muckfoot" was just Knuckles covered in mud.[43]

Accusations

The Walrus Male overhearing the accusations of Knuckles.

Having gone to the beach, followed by a visit at Meh Burger, the Walrus Male overheard the Fennec Shopkeeper blame Knuckles for robbing his store while in the Village Center.[44] The Walrus Male would some time afterward celebrate when several malware-infected Eggman robots, who had overrun the Village, withdrew after the villagers fought back against them for the first time.[45] During the period that followed, the Walrus Male chose to stop by Meh Burger again.[46] He later became a fan of the Lightning Bowler Society after seeing them beat the Pin Dashers. He thus came to the Lightning Bowlers' next public appearance as the team rose to stardom.[47] When local gossip soon after revealed that Dr. Eggman was no doctor, the Walrus Male began seeing him as a joke. He thus joined the villagers in mocking Eggman during the scientist's next trip to the Village, although Eggman soon got a real doctorate.[3] When T.W. Barker later acquired a "haunted lair", the Walrus went to visit it. However, he forwent the lair when he heard Eggman, who got tossed out of the lair, rant about it being a hoax.[48]

Back in the Village, the Walrus Male came under attack by Cubot when the latter went nuts and gained new gravity powers. Although Amy tried to help him when he got caught in the grasp of Cubot's gravity powers, the Walrus Male soon got taken towards space by Cubot. While Walrus Male was brought down to earth again by Sonic and Tails before he died from asphyxia, he nearly got crushed by the increased gravity emanating from Cubot's gravity device. Thankfully, he was saved when Knuckles smashed the device.[49] The Walrus Male would wander around the Village and visit Meh Burger a few times after that, before going to a soccer match between Team Sonic and Team Cybonic that would decide the closed rec center's fate. When Team Sonic won, Mayor Fink declared that the rec center would be reopened at the cost of the library, much to the Walrus Male's joy.[50] He soon after almost got lured into a scam by T.W. Barker had Sonic not intervened. Getting into Scrambler after that, the Walrus Male was able to attend an exclusive promotional event through it.[51] He soon after had a meal at Meh Burger again.[52]

SunflowerSonic

The Walrus Male seeing Sonic dressed as a sunflower.

Back in the Village Center, the Walrus Male saw Sonic walk around in a sunflower costume. A swarm of Bee Bots led by Tails appeared immediately after, prompting the Walrus Male to make his escape.[53] Some time after, he paid a visit to the library before going to Meh Burger. Later on, he found Eggman, who at the time had a condition that made him turn into a cute creature whenever he got angry, in the Village Center. There, the Walrus Male joined most of the villagers in laughing at Eggman when he got taunted by Team Sonic. A few days later, the Walrus Male went to Meh Burger again.[54] He soon after paid a visit to Knuckles' gym before coming to the Village's open mic night. The Walrus Male later went to open mic night again, only to run away from there after D-Fekt arrived and became excessively hostile.[55] Returning to the Village Center again, the Walrus Male would boo at Eggman when he got defeated by Sonic once more, until he got scared off by the egg-shaped scientist. After keeping some distance from Eggman, the Walrus Male went to Meh Burger again.[56] The Walrus Male later returned to Meh Burger again, where he bore witness to a battle between Sonic and Shadow.[57]

Personality[]

The Walrus Male has quite low standards for celebrities.[22] He is also very easily influenced by other people's opinions.[32]
