Dive-bombing baddie, no assembly required.

— Description, Sonic the Hedgehog Encyclo-speed-ia

Vultron[1][2][note 1] is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, vulture-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman.

Appearance[]

Vultrons are based on vultures. These Badniks are colored purple on their heads and backs, while their chests and legs are colored white. Their beaks and feet are colored yellow. On each wing is a jet engine which propels them forward.

Overview[]

Vultron MSZ 3

A Vultron alongside a Cactula.

In Sonic Mania, and its expansion Sonic Mania Plus, Vultrons appear in both Acts of Mirage Saloon Zone.

In gameplay, these Badniks are commonly seen perched on top of cacti or ledges until they are approached by the player. When encountered, Vultrons will swoop in and attack the player by flying in an arc, doing a loop around in midair, and then repeat the pattern for as long as possible, even if they get relatively far away from their point of origin. When left alone, the Vultrons can become a nuisance, especially in larger numbers. A simple Spin Attack or Spin Jump will eliminate this Badnik and free its Animal however.

In Sonic/Tails/Mighty/Ray's version of Mirage Zone Act 1, two Vultrons are released by the Heavy Magician, while most other Vultrons in the Act will ambush the player from off-screen at various points.

Powers and abilities[]

As per their design, the Vultrons are capable of flight.
