Vinyls, as their name implies, are vinyl decals for race cars. When equipped, they will display their images on the race car's hood, sides and rear. They each come in a different design, shape, and theme.

In Team Sonic Racing, Vinyls are Mods whose only purpose is to make aesthetic changes to a playable character's race car, meaning they have no impact on a race car's stats.
In gameplay, Vinyls allow the player to decorate any playable character's race car with vinyl decals. However, only one Vinyl decal can be added to a race car at a time. In order to add Vinyls to race cars, select a character or a Preset to modify under the "Customize Car Cosmetics" option in the Garage. While there, the player can also select the color and texture of the Vinyl's display from the Paint Kit that has been chosen for the race car. Each of the four colors in the Paint Kit can be selected as any of the three primary colors that make up the color scheme of the chosen Vinyl decal (the player may even select the same color multiple times). The three colors that make up each Vinyl decal's color scheme are named Color 1, Color 2 and Color 3.
When starting out the game, the player will have a limited selection of Vinyls to choose from. However, by progressing through Team Adventure and/or purchasing Mod Pods, the player can unlock additional Vinyls. A total of fourteen Vinyls are available in the game.
