Vector Man is a roboticized version of Vector the Crocodile that appears exclusively in the Sonic & Mega Man: Worlds Collide comic crossover event.
History
Transformation
While attempting to locate the missing Tails, Knuckles, and Amy at Sonic the Hedgehog's request, Vector and his two teammates in the Chaotix- Espio and Charmy-were captured by Copybot. Taken to Dr. Eggman and Dr. Wily, they were added to the ranks of the Roboticized Masters, with Vector becoming Vector Man. Along with the other Roboticized Masters, he challenged Sonic and Mega Man's team of heroes as they were attempting to rescue Dr. Light. The transformed trio ended up being the only three Masters who remained behind to fight Sonic while the rest of their teammates pursued Mega Man's fleeing brother Proto Man. Vector Man proved a powerful opponent, seizing Sonic in his powerful grip, but was the first to be restored to normal by Mega Man's modified Mega Buster, known as the Sonic Shot.
Powers and abilities
Possessing strength equal-or perhaps superior-to his organic self, Vector Man is an incredibly powerful Robian. His most potent weapon is derived from Vector's walkman: a powerful sound-based cannon known as the Acoustic Blaster. However, like all the Roboticized Masters, he is vulnerable to the combined abilities of Sonic and Mega Man.
Trivia
- Vector Man shares his name with Vectorman, the protagonist of a Sega Genesis video game series of the same name. The Vectorman character is a robot who in his games attempts to clean up toxic waste on a futuristic Earth. In Sonic the Hedgehog #249, Sonic made a further nod to this by noting that the name "Vector Man" made him think of a trash collector.
- Ian Flynn had intended a joke towards Vector Man where Sonic likening him to Wheel Gator, one of the Maverick bosses from Mega Man X2, but could not fit the reference in and dismissed it in favor of the Vectorman reference.[1]
- Where most other Roboticized Masters have circular designs where their ears would be, Vector Man's are rectangular, this is because of Vector's rectangular headphones
