The unnamed Desert Ruins Badnik is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, Orbinaut-like, tornado-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman that protects itself via a tornado.

Appearance[]

Unnamed Giant Tornado Badnik - Sonic Lost World

The larger variant of this Badnik, from the Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic Lost World.

These Badniks have a heavy resemblance to that of the Orbinauts, due to them being a spherical robot with blue eyes similar to that of other Orbinaut Badniks. Surrounding the Badnik itself is a tornado filled completely with sand that it uses for protection, as well as a silver hatch underneath it that allows other Badniks to take their place if they are ever destroyed.

Larger variants of these Badniks also exist, with them looking identical to their smaller counterparts (outside of having a more darker colored tornado and not having a metal hatch underneath them). However, the larger variants of these Badniks are twice the size of Sonic and have a significantly taller tornado compared to their smaller counterparts.

Overview[]

In the Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic Lost World, these Badniks act as enemies. During the events of the game, they were hijacked by the Deadly Six.

These Badniks appear exclusively in Desert Ruins Zone 1, where they will hover in one spot over a metal hatch, doing damage to Sonic if he hits them. Normally, it is impossible to destroy these Badniks with standard attacks. However, if Sonic acquires the Indigo Asteroid, these Badniks can be easily destroyed and turned into debris. If the player destroys one of these Badniks, another one will come out from the hatch and take their place.

More uncommon larger variants of these Badniks also make an appearance in the same level, behaving the same as their regular sized counterpart. However, due to the larger size of these Badniks, they require a larger circle of debris orbiting around the player's Indigo Asteroid form in order to be defeated. Unlike their smaller counterparts, these larger variants do not get replaced by another Badnik upon being defeated.

Powers and abilities[]

These Badniks shield themselves with a tornado that not only makes them impervious to any of Sonic's normal attacks, but will also cause damage. Additionally, if the Badnik is destroyed, another one will take their place. The larger variants of these Badniks are also much more durable compared to their smaller counterparts, as they are not immediately destroyed if Sonic is in his Indigo Asteroid form compared to their regular sized counterparts.
