The Unity Engines are objects that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. They are powerful devices created by Sigma-1 in order to draw upon the power of worlds such as Sonic's World and Mega Man's World in order to grant him greater power.
History
After conceiving the idea of the Unity Engines, Sigma set Eggman and Wily to work building them in his base on the Lost World. As Sigma contemplated the power the engines would grant him, he wondered what his old foe X would think of him after the engines granted him the power of the two worlds he was seeking to conquer.[1] After Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man were captured and turned into Roboticized Masters Sonic Man and M'egga Man, each was sent to the other's world with a Unity Engine to place in Mega City and Mobotropolis, respectively.[2] Ultimately, the devices were activated and Sonic's World and Mega Man's World began to merge, although this also activated secondary programming secretly implemented by Wily and Eggman that made Sonic Man and M'egga Man fighting each other in an attempt to sabotage Sigma's plans.[3]
