Tyson Hesse is an American artist. He used to contribute to Archie Comics' Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs, and is currently contributing to IDW Publishing's Sonic the Hedgehog comic series. He has also animated for the opening cutscene and the pre-order trailer of Sonic Mania and has directed for Sonic Mania Adventures.

History

Pre-career

A fan of many video game and animation series, Tyson Hesse had participated in the Sonic fan-art community on DeviantArt as early as 2004[1] making him possibly the second oldest artist with prior involvement in the fan community sector to work in an official Sonic the Hedgehog comic publishing capacity after Jeff Axer and before Evan Stanley[2].

Tyson Hesse first approached an editor of Archie Comics at one of the annual Comic Cons, presenting his fan comic, "Sonic's Big Fat Adventure". He was soon employed by the company to work on the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series.[3]

IDW Publishing

After the license cancellation of the Sonic the Hedgehog series held previously by Archie Comics and acquirement by IDW Publishing, Hesse was commission for cover art of the new Sonic the Hedgehog series comic run.
