The Type-J is designed in Sonic Riders as a basical, yet very detailed, green Board type Extreme Gear. The edge on the front has a stripe of forest green running across it, with one line down the middle and the edges on the mid-section are mint green. The foot plate on the upper surface for the Type-J is colored cadet grey and slate grey, with a yellow border.

This new version of the Type-J is purposely full of quirks, leaving it so only Jet would be able to master it. It is only useable to Jet in normal races, but is usable to all characters (except Dr. Eggman) in Survival Relay.

In Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, the Type-J received a redesign that only vaguely resembles its old form. In this game, while still having a distinctive board shape, the Type-J is thicker than it was in Sonic Riders, giving it a more bulky appearance. Also, instead of green, it is primarily colored white, with serveral sleak streaks of green and yellow running along it. It also has purple circular foot pads on the upper surface and what appears to be orange hover units on the underside of the mid-section.

The Type-J first appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog #163 where it was used by Jet to steal a vapor accelerator from Dr. Eggman to boost the Type-J. Jet was still captured by Eggman, however, but the doctor let him got if he defeated Sonic the Hedgehog, to which Jet accepted. Using the Type-J, which was foreign technology to Sonic, Jet was able to defeat Sonic with help from rest of the Babylon Rogues in their first confrontation. The next day, however, when the Babylon Rogues arrived to destroy Knothole, Jet was attacked Sonic, Knuckles and Tails, who had required their own Extreme Gear. With his own newly required Extreme Gear, Sonic was able to counter Jet's Type-J, and managed to beat back the Babylon Rogues, with the help of Tails and Knuckles.

For other uses of the term, see Type-J (disambiguation).

The Type-J (タイプ-J Taipu-J?) is a recurring Board type Extreme Gear in the Sonic Riders series. It is Jet the Hawk's personal Extreme Gear, and his default Extreme Gear. It is one of the first Extreme Gears available in every game in the Sonic Riders series.

The Type-J is a part of the Babylon Rogues' own unique series of Extreme Gears, constructed and customized by the team's own Extreme Gear mechanic, Wave the Swallow.

Game appearances

Sonic Riders

The Babylon Rogues have their own special series of boards and this mean green Speed Type board is built especially for Jet, the infamous leader. Is it better than Sonic's board? Only time will tell.

— Description from the Sonic Riders website.

Babylon Standard. Speed type W (Wave).

— Description, Sonic Riders[1]

Description

The Type-J first appeared in Sonic Riders. According to its profile, it is a standard Extreme Gear for the Babylon Rogues. Wave specifically made it for the Speed Type. Due to the Type-J being tuned for the Speed Type character, Jet is an expert at using this Extreme Gear. It is only useable to Jet in this game.

The Type-J is designed in Sonic Riders as a basic, yet very detailed, green Board type Extreme Gear. The edge on the front has a stripe of forest green running across it, with one line down the middle. Also, the edges on the mid-section are mint green. Lastly, the foot plate on the upper surface of the Type-J is colored cadet gray and slate gray, with a yellow border around it.

Abilities and traits

As a Board-type Extreme Gear in Sonic Riders, the Type-J is well-balanced in its attributes with average statistics, an average rate of fuel-consumption and is suited for general riding.

Like most other character exclusive Extreme Gears, the Type-J does not possess any unique abilities of its own.

Description, Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity[2]

Description

The Type-J later made a reappearance in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity. According to its profile, it has been redesigned by Wave herself.
