The Twin Blades is an Item Box power-up that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series
Description [ ] The Twin Blades' icon takes the form of one of Sir Lamorak 's swords surrounded by a green aura and leaving behind a green trail. In gameplay, this power-up becomes the sword being launched forwards while leaving a green trail.
Overview [ ] In gameplay, the Twin Blades can only be obtained at random from Item Boxes by Sir Lamorak . As with most other Items, Metal Sonic and Metal Sonic Mach 3.0 can also use the Twin Blades if they use the Steal Item, or Fortune Teller Amy if she uses Lucky Draw or Wall of Cards to steal it from the aforementioned user.
Once obtained, the player can utilize the Twin Blades by pressing its icon on the bottom of the HUD. When used, the user performs a horizontal sword slash around themselves that can damage rival characters adjacent to them, in front of them, or behind them, causing them to lose Rings and slow down momentarily. In addition, when unleashing the Twin Blades, the user can also launch the sword, traveling down the lane it was deployed on in front of the user. If it manages to hit a Rival, it will return to the user, allowing to repeat the process. To avoid the Twin Blades' slashing attack, the playable character either has to jump when it is about to hit them or get to a lane that the attack cannot reach. To avoid the second part of the attack, the player has to either jump over it or get out of its lane.
The Twin Blades can also be upgraded by leveling the user up to level 6 and 12 respectively. For each upgrade, the damage cuased by getting hit by the Twin Blades will be increased.
