The Turbo Star made its first appearance in Sonic Riders. According to its profile, it can quickly achieve top speed with its acceleration. It can be unlocked in the game by first collecting the Turbo Star Repair manual in Mission 5 for Splash Canyon and the broken Turbo Star gear by completing Mission 5 at Green Cave with a Gold rank, and then collecting 40 green junk, 20 yellow junk, 10 red junk and 10 blue junk to repair it.
The Turbo Star is designed in Sonic Riders as a typical, but aerodynamic, board, with black edge accents, and a white board-enclosed surface with yellow markings.
Abilities and Traits
As a Board type Extreme Gear in Sonic Riders, the Turbo Star is well-balanced in its attributes with overall average total statistics and an average rate of fuel-consumption, and is suited for general riding.
The Turbo Star has no special abilities of its own, but possesses an amazing acceleration stat, reducing setbacks from bumping into obstacles to a minimum. However, its drawback is that it has low top speed and low Air Boost speed.
Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity
The Turbo Star reappeared later in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity. According to its profile, the Turbo Star has acceleration that allows it to recover quickly from bumps and scrapes.
In Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, the Turbo Star received a redesign. In this game, the Turbo Star is made thicker with round curves, giving it a more bulky look. The rear is especially increased in size, having been made nearly spherical, with two silver-colored exhaust ports on the rear. It still keeps its color scheme of yellow and black from Sonic Riders, however, being primarily colored yellow, with black edges on the sides of the front, and midsection.
Abilities and Traits
As a Board type Extreme Gear in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, the Turbo Star is well-balanced in its attributes with overall average total statistics, and is suited for general riding.
Like in Sonic Riders, The Turbo Star has no special abilities of its own, but it retains its amazing acceleration properties through its basic stats. Also, with its Gear Parts, it can increase its acceleration even further and allow it to grind on Rails.

Sonic Free Riders
The Turbo Star made another appearance in Sonic Free Riders. According to its profile, its initial acceleration specs grants it perfect acceleration for those who need to get back in a race after falling behind. It can be purchased from the shop for 750 Rings.
In Sonic Free Riders, the Turbo Star received a new design. In this game, it returned to having a more board-like shape, much like it had in Sonic Riders, but with inward curves around the midsection. It is primarily colored citrine, with dark gray rims on the edges, and has green highlights along the edges.
Abilities and Traits
As a Board type Extreme Gear in Sonic Free Riders, the Turbo Star is, like in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, well-balanced in its attributes, and is suited for general riding.
Like in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, the Turbo Star retains its high acceleration stats in this game, allowing the players to quickly gain the lead, even without boosting, though its other stats are still below average and when performing a kick dash the speed it travels at is fairly slow (around 170 mph) compared to the rest of the Extreme Gear. It can be equipped with two Gear Parts.
- The name "Turbo Star" is also the name of a vehicle found in Kirby Air Ride, which is a game Sonic Riders is often compared to.
- In Sonic Free Riders, for this Gear has the highest acceleration in the game, when starting a race, the rider will approach the starting line quicker than on other Gear so the player has to carefully time the Kick Dash (it's best to wait when the timer reaches around 0.7-0.5 seconds before kick dashing) which makes it easy to get an 'Unbelievable Start' but it's very easy to perform a mistimed kick dash which can easily result in hit the starting line before the timer reaches zero.
