This is about the move granted by the Green Gem. You may be looking for the plane, the Tornado.

Tornado (トルネード Torunēdo?) is a move used by Sonic the Hedgehog that, when activated, causes Sonic to create a tornado to attack his surroundings. It has only appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) as one of Sonic's Custom Actions. It can only be used after Sonic obtains the Green Gem.

Description[]

This move is very similar to the Tornado Jump in Sonic Heroes, except that Sonic remains in one spot when using it and deals direct damage to enemies. In order for Sonic to use this move, he has to possess the Green Gem Level Up Item. Once obtained, the player has to select the Green Gem with the directional pad and activate it by pressing Xbox-Button-RT/R1.

When performing this move, Sonic begins spinning his legs around in a style similar to breakdancing at high speeds. The air currents created from this form a miniature tornado that can damage any enemies and breakable objects found within its small radius. Although its execution does not get interrupted, Sonic still takes damage from enemy's attacks while performing this move.

This attack can be performed on ground and in mid-air. Furthermore, consecutive Tornado attacks are also possible if the player keeps pressing Xbox-Button-RT/R1 repeatedly in the middle of a jump though Sonic will lose altitude after every execution.

Trivia[]

  • This move may be a reference to Sonic's interest in breakdance, due to the way it is performed.
  • Using this move in the air inflicts damage instantly.
  • Shadow the Hedgehog bears a similar technique in the same game, called Spin Kick. However, the execution is different, and it is available the very moment the player unlocks Shadow. Additionally, it does not destroy surrounding objects.
