History[]
The Fate of Dr. Eggman[]
When Sonic and Tails flew through the sky in the Tornado, they came across an Egg Fleet battleship. Believing they could get some useful data on the recent Badnik troop movements from the battleship, Tails gave Sonic his Miles Electric to use to download any information from the ship's computer. Accepting the task, Sonic left the Tornado and infiltrated the battleship. However, when Sonic fell off the battleship following a battle with Neo Metal Sonic, Tails caught Sonic on the Tornado and escaped Neo Metal Sonic's ship.[1]
Jet Set Tornado[]
Eventually, Tails made a new jet booster prototype for the Tornado to increase its flying speed. Taking it out for a test drive, Tails let Sonic steer the Tornado, believing he was the best suited for this test. On the way however, the duo encountered a Stealth Balkiry who had stolen supplies from the Resistance. In order to catch up the Stealth Balkiry, Sonic activated the new jet booster. However, Sonic was forced to keep the Tornado on a stable course, or the stress would tear it apart. To make matters worse, Sonic had broken the jet booster's off button. Regardless, the duo managed to force the Stealth Balkiry to fly into a geyser that made it drop the supplies. Tails then wanted to drop the jet booster on the Stealth Balkiry, but Sonic refused to let Tails' work go to waste. As such, he let Tails take the Tornado's controls while he jumped out of the Tornado and destroyed the Stealth Balkiry. Tails then caught Sonic, and the two decided to fly around in the Tornado until the jet booster ran out so fuel so they could land.[2]
Crisis City[]
During the Zombot apocalypse, Tails flew the Tornado to Sunset City with Silver. When they found and saved Sonic from the Zombots, Tails informed Sonic that the Tornado was waiting for him east of the city.[3]
Chao Bases and Badnik Bases[]
Eventually, Sonic and Tails flew the Tornado to an abandoned Eggman base near Windmill Village.[4] Afterward, Tails, Sonic, and Belle took the Tornado to White Park Zone.[5]
Test Run![]
Sonic, Tails, and Amy later used the Tornado to reach a new Eggman tower, which was causing weather anomalies along the coast. There, the Tornado was left to itself while Sonic and co. infiltrated the tower.[6][7] When the tower's destruction later became imminent, the Tornado was used by both heroes and villains to escape the tower before it completely imploded, thereby leaving nothing behind for the Tornado's instruments to pick up. As Tails then took the Tornado towards the Restoration's new HQ, Orbot and Cubot would part ways with the heroes, who got things sorted out with Belle following what she had learned at the tower.[8]
Zeti Hunt![]
Having parked the Tornado outside his lab in Central City, Tails eventually prepared to use the Tornado to fly to Restoration HQ, which was being attacked by the Deadly Six, with his Zeti Zappers.[9] However, he ended up using the Tornado 2 instead.[10]
Deep Trouble[]
Receiving later a call for assistance from Knuckles, Sonic and Tails used the Tornado to rendezvous with Knuckles on Angel Island.[11]
Scrapnik Island[]
Sonic and Tails were crossing across an ocean with the Tornado when they got caught into a big storm. Tails told Sonic they needed to find a place to land before the Tornado got ripped apart. Sonic was able to spot an island, but before they could land, the Tornado was struck by lightning and they crashed landed on the island. The crash injuires Sonic's foot and causes him to wear a cast. The island turns out to be inhabited by forgotten Eggman robots called Scrapniks.[12] One of these robots, E-117 Sigma, offers to help repair the Tornado. He asses the damage can be fixed, but the Drive Generator is cracked and needs replaced. Sigma and Sonic explore the ruined Death Egg on the island to find it.[13] After fights with Mecha Knuckles and Mecha Sonic, Tails and the Scrapniks are able to repair the Tornado and Sonic and Tails leave Scrapnik Island on it.[14]
