  • Why did you delete the Irish the Hedgehog article?

I understand the importance of official/canonical Sonic characters, but we do have categories for information that isn't canon. The very least you could have done was to leave it as it is under the "non-canon characters" category.

    • Non-canon characters are either scrapped characters, glitches, or unofficial characters that have been placed in official game software, like Sonictchi and Andronic. Irish the Hedgehog has only ever been referenced this once by the Sonic social media. Before 2017, Sanic did not have a page on the wiki even though he had been referenced many times by the social media. Now, as he is in Forces and in the movie, he is easily able to have such a page. Irish does not have this same opportunity.

    • We need an Irish page now. It is of utmost importance.

    • nah

and this is coming from a guy who is Irish :)

        Loading editor
    • We had one, but we made the right decision in deleting it.

Don't try to make the page again, because it'll just get deleted again.

        Loading editor
    • I locked creating it so no one can make it

        Loading editor
    • The social media manager for Sonic said that Irish was canon though.

        Loading editor
    • Doesn't seem like it, but if he did he would've been joking.

    • Katie repeated Aaron's words from a while back. And Aaron also said that Tails died. And that it was CANON.

    • Ah ok, sorry, my bad.

    • Counter argument: Irish the Hedgehog is a character that was created by Sega. Sega paid Mark Hughes to create the art. Sonic Team Japan gave feedback on the art.

The art and video are official Sega "products" (or rather, "commercials", to raise brand awareness), published on Sega's official Twitter and Youtube channels.

Since this wiki covers other official social media exclusive content (song remixes, Sonic Mania Adventures, etc.) why should this one be excluded?

    • You are taking this joke character very seriously, aren't you?

        Loading editor
    • This might sound like like a stupid idea, but why don't we just make a page with all exclusive content from Sonic social media posts?  We don't have to state weather or not content in said posts are considered canon.

We could name it "List of social media exclusive content".

Is this actually a good idea, or is it just as stupid as it sounds?

    • I was actually think about asking someone to make a page called "Sonic social media accounts". All the content that is made from those platforms, such as the Ask Sonic twitter takeovers, can go there.

        Loading editor
    • That's a good idea. We could make one page for the posts from "Sonic the Hedgehog" and another page for the posts from "SEGA HARDlight".

Or maybe just one big page for both of them, I don't know.

        Loading editor
    • I was thinking one page with sections for different accounts. If it gets too big, we can make subpages for it.

        Loading editor
    • That's fine with me. Considering the amount of Sonic social media posts, it's about time we made a page for them.

        Loading editor
    • You can start it if you want. All the power to you.

    • I'll start when it I can. Right now I'm working on a page for the Blue Star in the Post-reboot archie comic. It appeared once in issue 285 and only in two panels, so I guess that's why there isn't a page for it currently.

But after I finish that, I'll see what I can do about the social media post page.

    • I really hate bother you, but could you rename Blue Star (Archie) to "Blue Star (Pre-Super Genesis Wave)"? I don't think I'm allowed to rename pages, so think I might need an Admin's help for this one.

Also, if you want evidence, here is a panel of sonic riding the Blue Star post-reboot from issue 285.

This is a wiki about Sonic the Hedgehog. None of it is serious business.

But as official Sonic content, it falls under the purview of this wiki just as much as the song remixes, web cartoons, birthday cards and tinned pasta.

    • Sorry for not keeping up with this but I guess we can make an exception for Irish. However, I am certainly not having a page for all of the memes that the Sonic social media posts. No need for that. Not that it matters but even other wikis, like the RWBY wiki, would not do that.

        Loading editor
    • I do not approve of making an exemption. This charter has not appeared in any animation, games, or printed media. Irish is a joke character made to fulfill a promise Sonic Twitter made to a youtuber. If he comes back next year, then maybe we should have a page. For now there is nothing that permits it to have a page.

    • How about giving Jack a page? I think voicing a joke character is enough to deserve a page at least.

        Loading editor
    • That would open a Pandora's box of giving online creators, YouTubers and the like, that have worked with the Sonic series their own pages. We don't owe anyone a page on that front.

        Loading editor
    • The “Can You Feel The Sunshine” page has a link to the web exclusive remix. Is the web exclusive remix of “Escape From the City”, by Jun Senoue and Hyper Potions, in the Irish the Hedgehog video, not also worth covering?

Should the pages for other joke subjects, like Chaos Cola and Chao in Space also be removed? Should we remove all mention of Astal’s cameos in the Sonic comic books?

        Loading editor
    • I at least think Irish deserves a mention in the Hedgehog page.

        Loading editor
    • Indigo does have a point on that though. The remixes are always mentioned on the song pages yet they're not exactly used in games either. Even though they're unofficial in that sense, they're always worked on by Sonic alumni like Jun, Tee, and Hyper Potions.

I will say though that Chaos Cola and Chao in Space are in-universe so they are a little different.

        Loading editor
    • I think Irish deserves to be at least mentioned in the list of Hedgehogs, since the hedgehogs on that list aren't only from the game, they're from other forms of media, and I think Irish should have his own little section like "Social Media Created"

        Loading editor
    • Irish is not as traditional so I'd say that giving him a mention on that page would suffice.
