Plot[]
The episode continues where the previous one left off, where Sonic and Nine glare at each other at the top of the Citadel, still standing after being blown by a shockwave caused by the Paradox Beam's energy. They continue fighting after Nine scoffs off the meaning of the word "together", claiming that Sonic 'only cares' about returning to Green Hill. While Sonic tries to make peace with him, he is interrupted by his new enemy after mentioning about the Prism's power, claiming it's the only way to protect his world and The Grim will be saved once he takes Sonic's Prism Energy, and that his allies have already conceded defeat in battle. Nine summons Grim Birdies to attack Sonic, but he defeats them and taunts back, annoying him. Nine uses the Paradox Energy Beam, which fluctuates the dome, shakes the Paradox Prism, and rejuvenates his Grim Robots, including Alpha Grim Sonic. Eventually, the dome begins to shrink, with battlefield crystals disappearing through the dome's edge. Soon after Sonic speaks Nine attacks him and knocks him off the tower towards the bottom of the Citadel.
While Sonic falls, Nine commands the Grim Birdies to "catch him before he hits the spire'" as an attempt to catch Sonic for his energy. Just before Sonic reaches the spikes, panel tiles appear below him, causing him to land safely, and allowing him to play around with these tiles, even while the Grim Birdies go to attack him. He dodges their attacks and defeats them both, making his way up to the top of the Citadel where an annoyed Nine is. Nine shoots again, but as Sonic easily evades, he harnesses more power from the energy beam and fires bullets. Just as Sonic tries to brace himself, a panel tile appears in front of him acting as a shield, blocking Nine's bullet attacks. He looks at his gloves in amazement as soon as the shooting stops, and taunts back at him, provoking him and causing him to fire bullets again, which Sonic deals with easily. After Nine 'hits' Sonic with a more powerful beam, Sonic portrays a screaming voice behind a confused Nine, taunts back at him, and as soon as Nine tries to attack, Sonic hits him with a Homing Attack, latching on for a moment while they travel around the Energy Beam. As Nine fires bullets, Sonic runs closer to him holding the shield. Nine faints on top of the Citadel, causing Sonic to drop his shield and fall onto it.
Sonic asks Nine to give up, but he refuses, and turns to the Energy Beam to generate power, causing the dome to fluctuate and the robots to regenerate. Sonic's allies, as decided by Rebel, commence their battle against the Grim Robots, with Sonic's allies winning. Sonic hails about Rebel's plan working, but Nine ignores him and generates more power, halting and panting in exhaustion as soon as his mechanical tails glow white. After becoming tricked by a far-away rumbling sound, he furiously attacks an approaching Sonic again. They both react quickly, with Nine shooting bullets, and Sonic blocking the weapons with his shield. Nine comments how Sonic managed to pull off such a trick, with Sonic responding about the rest of his team trusting him, flashing back to the previous episode where Dr. Deep initially doubted Sonic's plan, but Sonic was adamant that with all their qualities they could pull off a sneak attack "by letting him think he's won'" The fighting continue. As Sonic calls Nine to fight him, he blows Sonic up in the air and drops him from the tower. Sonic's allies battle the Grim Robots on the ground, making progress as it culminates with Shadow stepping on Alpha Grim Sonic's head. Nine reacts angrily while the allies celebrate.
Sonic again tries to call a truce with Nine and save the world, but Nine protests that the Chaos Council started The Grim's decay instead of him, and that it was wrong for everyone to betray and attack him, and that he knows the Paradox Prism's capabilities before charging power, destabilizing and fluctuating the dome as the decay starts accelerating once again. Nine uses the power to rejuvenate his Alpha robots - to Sonic and the allies' dismay, claiming that he'll "destroy everything" - and attacks Sonic again with a direct hit, blasting him back onto some airborne panel tiles. The battle between the Alpha Grims and the allies start, this time with the Alpha Grims dominating the battle. As soon as Nine extracts more Prism Energy, the dome's decay rises. Nine responds to Sonic's brief protest that he's protecting his home, delivering another blow to Sonic with a powerful beam, blasting him back again. With Sonic downed, Nine commands his Alpha Robots to attack him as they head toward the Citadel, prompting the allies to attack the robots again, starting another battle, trading blows between each other, during which Nine extracts more Energy and revives his Alpha robots again, and also while Sonic protests him again to stop. Nine however hits him with his laser, sending him back. Knucks demands Dread to lead the group while attempting to reach the top of the Citadel himself, leading to another battle between the cloned Grim Robots and the allies, but before the battle could finish, a wrecked Grim Big rises, startling and intimidating everybody as they watch. Nine tries to force Sonic off the Citadel's top with his attacks, but an exhausted Sonic makes it, causing him to furiously stare at Sonic.
Sonic delivers some reverse psychology, confusing Nine before Knucks punches him from behind and knocks him onto the edge of the tower, calling him a traitor. Nine commands the Grim robots to take out Knucks and carry Sonic for his energy. Knucks and Sonic battle against their robotic counterparts. Nine also shoots bullets at Knucks, but Sonic saves him with a shield, before they defeat the robots. On the ground, Grim Big and the Grim Robots clash with the allies. During the battle, the Grim Big hits the Grim Robots with Froggy bombs, confusing Rebel, before revealing that Sails and Mangey were controlling the giant robot. The allies hail their return and curious to find out what happened, but Sails doesn't give away much info, apart from flying away from an explosion. They are ordered to keep on top of the Grim Robots, while the rest of the allies are needed to defeat the Alpha Grim Robots. Sails and Mangey get the hang of the giant robot, defeating more Grim Robots, while the rest of the allies execute their plan. Sonic and Knucks defeat more Grim Robots, to Nine's annoyance as he extracts more Energy, causing the Paradox Prism inside the Citadel to shake even more, and the dome to fluctuate. Nine attacks Knucks again, with Sonic intercepting using his shield. The Grim Birdies go after Grim Big, knocking Mangey off his seat as the giant robot shakes. Sails desperately pushes random buttons until he pushes the big button. The Froggy bombs destroy the Alpha Grim Birdie, evaporating the rest of the the Grim Birdies in the process.
After Rebel commends the breakthrough, the Alpha Grim Rouge continues battling, but is defeated after receiving so much damage, thus, the cloned Grim Rouges vanished. Meanwhile, Sonic blocks Nine's attack with the shield, forcing him to stop and fall onto the top of the Citadel. As Knucks tries to deliver one last blow, Nine intercepts with a shield, while Sonic stares at the fluctuating dome, and prompting Knucks to stop attacking Nine and to look at the rapidly decaying dome and the massive tears in the sky. Nine responds by delivering a shockwave which blows back Sonic and Knucks, and summoning more of his remaining Grim robots. On the ground, The Alpha Grim Knuckles battles Dr. Deep, but is soon defeated by a hot chainsaw from Catfish behind a dust cloud, eliminating the Grim Knuckles. The Grim Amys attack Black and Batten, while Dread and Jack climb up the Citadel together, staring at the tower. While Jack continues climbing, Dread changes his mind and glides down, saving Black from Alpha Grim Amy's grab. Dread passes the captain's hat to Black. Rusty shows her Birdie to her Alpha counterpart, which she lets fly away before resuming battle. The battle ends as Alpha Grim Amy is tossed through the edge of the dome after having their hammer stolen, therefore saving the little Birdie.
Meanwhile, Shadow battles Alpha Grim Sonic, but after they collide, he goes down, while the Alpha runs back towards the Citadel and joins its Grim counterparts approaching Knucks and Sonic. After a long stare down between the two teams, Shadow makes it to the top of the tower and Homing Attacks Alpha Grim Sonic, defeating it and causing an explosion and the cloned Grim Sonics to disappear and enraging Nine. The fox uses the Prism Energy to attack the trio once again, whilst Black notices the dome shrinking further and commands everybody to make it towards the Citadel. Nine's attack stops as soon as Sonic manages to Spin Attack him. Nine and Sonic continue their battle, even while they fall together through the center of the tower, with Nine knocking attempting to go for one of Sonic's Regulators before the screen cuts to black.
