The Buyer is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog film series produced by Paramount Pictures and its spin-offs. He was a human agent.
Appearance[]
The Buyer is a tall, bulky, and muscular man with peach skin, gray hair connected to his beard and moustache, and has orange/amber eyes. For attire, he wears a grayish black sleeveless t-shirt and brown work overalls holding multiple amounts of tools in his pockets.
History[]
Past[]
While the Buyer's early life is unknown, he used to work for the government as part of Dr. Ivo Robotnik's team which was the predecessor to G.U.N., until the latter came to quarrel with Sonic the Hedgehog, ultimately ending with Robotnik banished to the Mushroom Planet. After his employer's banishment, the recently-initiated G.U.N. Which was a reworking of his group with Robotnik, was tasked with erasing all traces of Robotnik, including the Buyer. The Buyer was hunted down to be assassinated, but ultimately eliminated the team sent to eliminate him, leaving him with a scar at the front of his left shoulder. He then went into hiding and began inventing high-tech weapons and selling them on the black market, becoming wealthy and hiring henchmen, creating his own criminal empire. He also became determined to destroy G.U.N. as revenge for betraying and attempting to kill him.
At some point, he started to collect quills belonging to Knuckles the Echidna, which he used to power his weapons before making contact with corrupt G.U.N. agents Mason and Willoughby, and ultimately hired them to capture Knuckles.
Knuckles[]
In "The Warrior", the Buyer is contacted by Willoughby that Knuckles had just left Green Hills, and he sends her and Mason some technology charged by Knuckles' quills.
In "Reno, Baby", the Buyer organizes to have Mason and Willoughby brought before him and began to explain how he used to be in GUN before its rebranding, eliminating the agents sent for him, and going into hiding. After Willoughby explained her reason for betraying G.U.N., the Buyer uses a blowtorch to melt hers cuffs and Mason's, changing the price from money to sparing their lives if they succeed.
In "What Happens in Reno, Stays in Reno", the Buyer confronts Knuckles himself outside the bowling tournament in a mech powered by the latter's quills before easily defeating him, remarking it was too easy. He then threw Knuckles into the bowling alley before dragging him out and started to extract his energy from him. Upon completing his objective, the Buyer throws the drained Knuckles aside, only to be confronted by Wade Whipple, who, with help from his mother and sister, used Mason's gauntlets to throw bowling balls at the Buyer while trying to motivate Knuckles. When Wade ran out, the Buyer prepared to kill him, only for Knuckles to wake up, extract his energy from the mech, uses the Flames of Disaster to damage it before Knuckles, with help from Wade, uses the building's large ball statue to fatally crush the Buyer ending him once and for all.
Personality[]
The Buyer appears to have been quite cruel, violent, tough, sadistic, strict, and homicidal by the way he broke a Badnik, even if it was akin to screaming in agony. He also lacks tolerance for failure and gives the bounty hunters little chance of living when they fail him. It can be said that he's more dangerous than Dr. Ivo Robotnik himself and is described as an absolute sociopath by Willoughby.
Powers and abilities[]
The Buyer's most well-known ability is for inventing machines similar to Dr. Ivo Robotnik, with one example being a huge mech. He is also a really intimidating man due to his large size and tough attitude. He is also a pretty excellent fighter as shown near the end.
Relationships[]
Knuckles the Echidna[]
The Buyer appears to be obsessed with Knuckles the Echidna as much as Dr. Ivo Robotnik is with Sonic. Despite wanting to steal his power, the Buyer has some respect for Knuckles, telling him that it’s an honor to meet him and claiming that anyone who goes after him should be ready for a fight. After weakening him, the Buyer extracted Knuckles' energy from him, afterward he then claimed the latter's only purpose now was to die. Right before Wade motivated Knuckles, which helped him get up, extract the stolen energy and ultimately kills the Buyer with Wade's help.
Dr. Robotnik[]
The Buyer used to work directly under Dr. Ivo Robotnik back when the doctor worked for G.U.N.. He had some respect for the doctor, claiming that he was very brilliant, although he also claimed that Robotnik was very difficult to work with. After Robotnik went rogue, his buyer came to think of him as insane, claiming that the doctor had lost his "big bald" mind.
