The Tethers[1] are objects that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. They are unique devices resembling Power Rings, but with energy links between themselves.
Description[]
The Tethers resemble in their simplicity a pair of Power Rings. When active, they are tethered together like a chain by a solid energy stream. This energy string is solid and extendable like a rubber band, allowing the rings to be stretched apart over a certain distance before snapping back, and for others to hang onto them like a rope.[1]
History[]
The Chaos Effect[]
A pair of Tethers were used by the Chaotix during the first incident at Happyland Amusement Park. When Metal Sonic v2.0 attacked the group, Vector used a Tether to swing Knuckles into the robot for a hit. It failed however as Metal Sonic managed to grab the Tether and attempted to use it against them. However, Vector managed to take control and used the Tether to throw Metal Sonic at Mighty who landed a critical punch on him.[1]
- Note: From this point, the Tethers' history continues from their new existence in the altered timeline.
Trivia[]
- The Tethers are based on the Bound Rings from the video game, Knuckles' Chaotix.
