Having debuted the year before in Sonic The Hedgehog 3, he roars onto the track in the all-around solid Tempest.

— Description, Sonic the Hedgehog Encyclo-speed-ia

The Tempest[1] (テンピスト[2] Tenpisuto?) is a vehicle that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a racing car used by Knuckles the Echidna during the second Chaos GP.

Description[]

The Tempest's design is mostly based on AM General's Hummer H1, sporting a yellow paint job two small headlights and thick rubber wheels. It also has a rack behind the cyan-colored driving seat.

Game appearances[]

Sonic Drift 2[]

In Sonic Drift 2, the Tempest appears as Knuckles the Echidna's personal racing car, which he uses during races.

In gameplay, the Tempest possesses medium speed, acceleration, and handling. Knuckles' Tempest also stands out from other racing vehicles in that it lets Knuckles use two special abilities. The first ability is to "Punch"[1] any nearby racers, which causes them to drop a Ring they have collected and spin out temporarily. If Knuckles does not have anyone racing next to him, the Tempest will perform the Jump Over similar to the one used by Tails and his Whirlwind S7. Using this ability however, costs two Rings.

Knuckles the Echidna Tempest Knuckles can Punch opponents (if one is near him), causing them to lose a Ring and spin out, or Jump over them, like Tails or when using Jump. The Jump is also good for avoiding obstacles such as Mine. Medium Medium Medium

Sonic Generations[]

In the Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic Generations, the Tempest makes a small cameo appearance on a bonus artwork in the Collection Room.
