— Directory, Sonic Unleashed (Xbox 360/PlayStation 3)

Teanchai (ティアンチャイ Tianchai?) is a character that appears in Sonic Unleashed. He is a human resident of Adabat, the father of Jamal, Rudi, Nagi and Kaeo, and a gifted fisherman.

On the Wii/PlayStation 2 version of the game, Teanchai is the Gaia Temple guardian of Adabat's Gaia Temple.

History[]

Xbox 360/PlayStation 3[]

At some point in the past, Teanchai became a fisherman and managed to catch a seven-foot fish by himself. Over the course of his life, Teanchai had four children named Rudi, Kaeo, Jamal and Nagi. However, Teanchai proved to extraordinarily overprotective of Rudi; whenever he saw a young man talk to her, Teanchai would become furious and throw a fit in front of the young man in question, assuming they were all trying to make advances towards Rudi. Whenever Teanchai was like that, Jamal would come to him and try to calm him down.

During the events of Sonic Unleashed, Teanchai met Sonic the Hedgehog and Chip when they first arrived in Adabat, where he told them that visitors were rare here and asked where they were from, before advising them to relax and take in the sea breeze. Not long after though, Teanchai saw Sonic talking to Rudi, and became angry at him. After Sonic had talked to Rudi, Teanchai called Sonic to him loudly and demanded to know what they talked about. Despite Sonic telling Teanchai that he just asked her something, Teanchai believed it was a lie and that it was just Sonic's excuse to get closer to Rudi, before yelled at Sonic that he would not let him get closer to Rudi or marry her. Not long after, Teanchai met Jamal, who calmed him down.

After being calmed down, Teanchai occasionally met Sonic and Chip again when they passed through Adabat. When meeting Sonic and Chip at night, Teanchai would ask them if they were on a nightly scroll and tell how nice the night breeze and that it was quiet enough to hear the waves,. When meeting Sonic and Chip during the day, Teanchai would welcome them back and ask if they liked Adabat.

Later, after Shamar's continent was restored, Teanchai caught Sonic talking to Rudi again, and became infuriated again. After Sonic talked to Rudi, Teanchai called Sonic to him and demanded to know what they talked about. Despite Sonic telling that he was just asking about casual things, such how she was doing, where thought he should go next, and the latest gossip, Teanchai told Sonic to stay out of Rudi's business, not to ask her about where to go when he could decide himself, and to ask him about Adabar instead of Rudi. Also, when Teanchai heard about the gossip, he demanded Sonic to tell who gossiped about Rudi. After that, Teanchai met Jamal again, who calmed him down.

Later on, after Sonic and Chip went into the forest, Teanchai saw Sonic talking to Rudi once more, and became angry at him again. After Sonic talked to Rudi, Teanchai called Sonic to him and demanded furiously to know what they talked about. As Sonic said that he told Rudi he went into the forest, Teanchai was impressed by Sonic's bravery, but he recalled that he was angry at him, and told him that he had been to the forest as well, though he admitted that he just stumbled around in there and returned. He then heard Sonic say that he told Rudi about the Gaia Key he found, which Teanchai saw and began praising Sonic for this accomplishment, but then recalled he was angry at him, and rebuffed that he also had a key, though he admitted it was to his house. After that, Teanchai met Jamal again, who calmed him down.

Later on, during nighttime, after Sonic and Chip restored Adabat's continent, Teanchai met Sonic and Chip again, where he suggested that they should call it a day before asking them of what they were doing since they always seemed busy. No long after though, Teanchai saw Sonic talking to Rudi again, and became angry at him once more. After Sonic talked to Rudi, Teanchai called Sonic to him and demanded furiously to know what they talked about. Despite Sonic telling him that he only told her about seeing Professor Pickle, Teanchai thought Sonic was hitting on Rudi and told him that he would not allow that, before pushing Sonic to leave after hearing about meeting with Professor Pickle while warning him not to talk to Rudi about that. After that, Teanchai met Jamal again, who calmed him down.

Some time later, when Sonic and Chip were about to head to Eggmanland, Teanchai Sonic talking to Rudi once more, and became angry at him again. After Sonic talked to Rudi, Teanchai called Sonic to him and demanded furiously to know what they talked about. As Sonic told him that he was telling Rudi about how he were out to save the earth, Teanchai did not believe him and called him a liar as he told Sonic that he could not fool him. As he also took Sonic's other chitchat as hitting on Rudi, Teanchai told him that he would not allow that.

Later on, during Sonic and Chip's battle with Dark Gaia, Teanchai and the rest of his village felt the tremors from Chip calling the local Gaia Temple to him.

Wii/PlayStation 2[]

At the beginning of Sonic Unleashed, Teanchai and the rest of his family's ancestral home was destroyed in the earthquakes created from Dark Gaia's awakening. As such, Teanchai and his family were forced to move to the stilt house village of Adabat. There, Teanchai ended up in a deep depression for having lost his home and the memories within it.

When Sonic the Werehog and Chip first arrived at Adabat, Teanchai was still in a glum mood. Upon meeting Sonic and Chip, Teanchai barely acknowledged them, before returning to mope about losing his home.

Not long after, while sulking about how nothing would be the same again, Teanchai met Sonic and Chip again, who had come upon a request from Rudi. As they asked him about the local Sacred Shrine, Teanchai understood what they was trying to do and wanted to help. However, Teanchai just told them to talk to Rudi about it as he himself was not up to it.

Following that, Teanchai eventually got out of his depression and decided to rebuild the family's house. Not long after, Teanchai met Sonic and Chip again and told them what he had decided to do, thinking it would be easier to rebuild a house than restoring a planet.

Later on, Teanchai met Sonic and Chip again, where he told them that he could not allow himself to mope when his children were cheerful. Seeing that Sonic and Chip were looking for the Sacred Shrine's Sun Tablet, Teanchai told them that Rudi had it and that they should talk to her.

A while later, Teanchai met Sonic and Chip again. Seeing that they had collected some tablet fragments, and hearing that they planned to enter the Gaia Gate, Teanchai told them that he did not think he could stop doing that and asked for their tablet fragments. Teanchai then assembled the fragments to a Planet Tablet for Sonic and Chip and send them on their way.

Later on, during Sonic and Chip's battle with Dark Gaia, Teanchai and the rest of his village felt the tremors from Chip calling the local Gaia Temple to him.

Personality[]

Usually, Teanchai is nice, friendly and composed. Once he sees a boy talking to Rudi though, he will get hopping mad and throw a fit in front of whoever talked to her, telling him that his daughter is off-limits.
