Team Sonic[1] is a group that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog film series produced by Paramount Pictures and its spin-offs. It was founded by Sonic the Hedgehog, Knuckles the Echidna, and Miles "Tails" Prower. Following the defeat of a Master Emerald-empowered Dr. Ivo Robotnik and his Giant Eggman Robot in Green Hills, the group was formed in order to protect the Master Emerald from falling into the hands of evil.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2[]

After having escaped from the collapsing Labyrinth in the Pacific Ocean following Dr. Ivo Robotnik's theft of the Master Emerald, Sonic and Knuckles came to a truce after the two of them had been fighting each other to keep the other from getting the Master Emerald by saving each other from drowning in the Labyrinth. Soon after, Tails showed up in the Tornado to rescue Sonic. Determined to keep Robotnik from using the Master Emerald's power for his own needs, Sonic encouraged Knuckles to team up with him and Tails after giving him advice on how to move on from his hurtful past.
Using a Ring, Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails traveled to Green Hills, Montana, in the Tornado. There, the trio discovered that Robotnik was using his Master Emerald-derived power to build a massive mech: the Giant Eggman Robot. Though Tails had doubts about bringing along Knuckles, Sonic assured him that he was not a bad guy - just mixed up. As Robotnik finished building his mech, Sonic tried coming up with a plan, only for Knuckles to drop off the Tornado to commence his own attack. Sonic and Tails soon after came under a missile barrage. Though Tails got the Tornado through it, Sonic got hit by a missile. The trio proceeded with their own attacks: Knuckles tried a direct attack on the Giant Eggman Robot's fist, but his attack was barely felt by Robotnik; Sonic directed the missile that caught him back into the Giant Eggman Robot, but the missile only shook the mech; and Tails took shots at the Giant Eggman Robot with the Tornado's weapons, only for the mech to destroy the Tornado.

Regrouping in Green Hills' main street, Sonic, Knuckles and Tails came to the conclusion that by themselves, they stood no chance of beating Robotnik. As such, Sonic rallied his friends to combine their various talents and work together as a team. Together, the trio then made a stand as Robotnik sent Badniks after them. Fighting their way through the Badniks, Sonic came up with a plan: if he could distract Robotnik, who is obsessed with besting him, Knuckles and Tails could sneak up behind the Giant Eggman Robot and launch a surprise attack on Robotnik. Carrying out the plan, Sonic lured Robotnik and his mech away from Green Hills while Tails and Knuckles got on the backside of the Giant Eggman Robot and began scaling it.
After a long chase and coming under several forms of laser fire, Sonic began to run out of strength, allowing Robotnik to catch up to him and send him plummeting down from a bridge. Before Robotnik could finish Sonic however, Knuckles and Tails got into the Giant Eggman Robot's cockpit. There, Tails distracted Robotnik with holograms of himself, thereby giving Knuckles enough time to get into position and dislodge the Master Emerald from Robotnik with a chaos energy-fueled punch. However, this resulted in the Giant Eggman Robot shutting down and falling over, resulting in Knuckles, Tails, and the Master Emerald falling out of the mech. With Knuckles and Tails no longer able to continue, a weakened Sonic managed to get the Master Emerald. Before Robotnik could crush him with an auxiliary powered Giant Eggman Robot however, Sonic was saved by Tom and Maddie, although Robotnik soon after managed to entrap the trio. As Sonic hoped to use the Master Emerald to defeat Robotnik however, the gem broke apart, releasing the Chaos Emeralds. As Robotnik tried to crush the Wachowskis and Sonic with the Giant Eggman Robot however, Sonic inadvertently absorbed the Chaos Emeralds and became Super Sonic. With this power, Sonic saved the Wachowskis, destroyed the Giant Eggman Robot, and sent Robotnik falling with his collapsing mech.

As Knuckles and Tails approached Super Sonic, Knuckles expressed his conviction that Sonic had gone mad with power. However, he was proven wrong when Sonic showed himself to be in complete control by manifesting chili dogs for them. Afterwards, Sonic relinquished the Chaos Emeralds, insisting that he still had some growing up to do before being worthy of such power. As the heroes celebrated their victory, Knuckles repaired the Master Emerald, although he was unsure of what to do next. As Tails then brought up how both the owls and echidnas wanted to safeguard the Master Emerald from evil, Sonic suggested that he, Tails and Knuckles formed a new order to protect the Master Emerald. With all three of them in agreement, they marked their oath with a three-way power-bump, officially forming Team Sonic. Sometime after, Team Sonic and the Wachowskis had a baseball game for fun, until Knuckles made them lose their only ball. Regardless, the team decided to go for ice cream afterwards.

Sonic Drone Home[]

While Team Sonic was on their way to the library to return some books on behalf of Maddie, Sonic had them take a detour to Green Hills Junkyard in order to investigate some strange noises that Wade had told Sonic about. Soon after arriving there, they discovered Unit, a self-aware Badnik in the process of upgrading himself in order to conquer the world. Before Sonic could make a plan however, Knuckles faced Unit head-on, only to get caught in a refrigerator and ejected from the junkyard. Unit then turned his attention to Sonic and Tails, who engaged him. However, Unit was able to match, outwit and counter all of Sonic and Tails' moves. When Unit had a constrained Sonic at his mercy however, Sonic took Tails' advice and tried talking to him. Through their conversation, Sonic convinced Unit to pursue his own interests, which was poetry. After encouraging Unit to read his poems to them, Sonic and Tails would listen to him until Knuckles returned and smashed Unit's body. Fortunately, Unit's core module survived, and Tails convinced Sonic to let him keep him. However, Knuckles was not convinced by Unit, and took Unit's intention to master poetry and make the world cower with it as a sign that he was still evil. Regardless, Team Sonic left the junkyard for their next adventure: picking up chili dogs on the way home.
