The Tamabboh[1] (タマッボー[note 1]?) is an enemy that appears in Sonic the Hedgehog CD. It is a mass-produced, stink bug-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman.
Appearance[]
Based on stink bugs, the Tamabbohs have blue and metallic round bodies with a round red disk covering their foreheads, no limbs, and yellow wheels with red hubcaps underneath their bodies. Also, a pair of gray projectile cannons are located on their backs. Below their forehead covers they have black and featureless faces except for a pair of cartoonish black eyes. They also have what could possibly be lights or buttons on both sides of their bodies that are colored yellow.
Overview[]
In Sonic the Hedgehog CD, the Windows 95 version, and the 2011 remaster, the Tamabbohs appear as enemies exclusively in Palmtree Panic. In gameplay, they roll back and forth in one specific area. When Sonic approaches them from either the front of the rear, however, they will stop and fire two projectiles that arc downwards from the cannons on their backs, one on each side. After that, they will have to wait before attacking again.
In the bad future, or, sometimes, in the present of Palmtree Panic, the Tamabbohs, while looking the same, move slower and cannot fire their projectiles despite trying to. The Tamabbohs can easily be defeated with a Spin Attack-related move. Also, like most Badniks in the game, the Tamabbohs release a Little Planet flower seed when they are defeated.
Powers and abilities[]
Tamabbohs are able to shoot two small projectiles from the cannons on their back by leaning slightly forward.

Sonic the Hedgehog (manga)[]
In the Sonic the Hedgehog manga published by Shogakukan, the Tamabbohs are robots created by Dr. Eggman. In this media, a single Tamabboh appeared in the Palmtree World when Sonic and Tails were exploring the region.
Trivia[]
- The Tamabboh's name is derived from tamago, meaning "egg," and 砲 (bou), the kanji reading for "cannon."
Notes[]
- ↑ While not listed in any instruction manuals, the July 1993 issue of Beep! MegaDrive (ビープ!メガドライブ) refers to this enemy as "タマッボー". All other enemy names in the magazine article match up with their official names in the instruction manuals.
