"transformed?"

"the super emeralds are a set of seven emeralds that transformed from the chaos emeralds with the help of the master emerald." does that mean the chaos emeralds can be turned into super emeralds by the master emerald? Ralphjedimaster 23:35, August 2, 2011 (UTC)

That is exactly what that means. The evidence is in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles, the one and only appearance of Super Emeralds in Sonic video game media.--Akamia(Talk)(Want to see what I've been doing?) 23:40, August 2, 2011 (UTC)

Super Emeralds ~ by Di-Luëzzia

Is this possible that the Emeralds we see in the Tikal's Flashbacks in Sonic Adventure ARE the Super Emeralds ?

I see on screenshots that they are as big as Big the Cat (in his own flash back), which is a little bit bigger than Sonic. And we see in Sonic 3 & Knuckles that the Super Emeralds are not much bigger than Sonic. After all, they are next to the Master Emerald and nearly the same height. Could this be possible ??...

YES, it should at least be put in the trivia section, since we know that the Super Emeralds are just the Master Emerald having brought to face more of the unlimited energy in each emerald.

Of course, then who knows how they condensed in Size to the modern day emeralds, but this SHOULD be mentioned. Those Emeralds in the Flashbacks had the exact same Cut also, not just the same Size. I wonder if SEGA was planning some master plan involving the history of them...oh well.98.85.92.193 01:24, June 6, 2012 (UTC)

8th Super Emerald

Shouldn't we mention the secret 8th Super Emerald in the article? You know, the Golden One?

There are only seven Super Emeralds; I don't know what you're talking about. Twinkle Snow Unleash Christmas 201318:11, March 20, 2013 (UTC)
No, there's an 8th one. Fawful117: I HAVE CHORTLES! (talk) 18:37, March 20, 2013 (UTC)
Could you link a source? I've beaten Sonic 3 & Knuckles 100% and never noticed an eighth Super Emerald. Twinkle Snow Unleash Christmas 201318:38, March 20, 2013 (UTC)
There is an additonal special stage that can be accessed from the level select I believe. It incredibly hard and if the player wins, they recieve a golden Super Emerald. I'm not sure what it does, but I think it changes monitors into super monitors. Myself 123 19:20, March 20, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah. That's the one. Fawful117: I HAVE CHORTLES! (talk) 19:30, March 20, 2013 (UTC)
Really? I want it now! Twinkle Snow Unleash Christmas 201320:24, March 20, 2013 (UTC)

Super Emeralds in Sonic & Knuckles standalone?

It occurred to me that the additional pillars surrounding the Master Emerald altar make no sense without the lock-on, but they still existed in the standalone version of the game. Then I performed a little test - collecting Chaos Emeralds. Lo and behold, greyed-out Super Emerald sprites do indeed show up! In Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles, accessing Hidden Palace Zone via a large ring after Zone 6 will show a small cutscene in which the Chaos Emeralds you've collected interact with the Master Emerald Pillar and transform into grey Super Emeralds. By standing atop a Super Emerald you enter its Special Stage - completing it restores color to the Super Emerald. Compare the sprites - in that cutscene, the floating Emeralds reacting to the Master Emerald appear as they did at the beginning of the game, when Knuckles takes them. Any Chaos Emeralds you have will show up as the decidedly different grey Super Emeralds regardless by the time you enter Hidden Palace. Therefore, the Super Emeralds technically appear in Sonic & Knuckles.

I doubt the game was designed pre-split to have the Emeralds show up in a massive size in a separate location without explanation, so it was probably a tease for players to try the full lock-on version to find out what was the deal with the Emeralds. Another thing to note is that the Super Emeralds are unnamed in the standalone version - but given all of the above, it's for all intents and purposes the same exact thing, just that you can't awaken them to unlock the further-increased powers they give you. Therefore: should Sonic & Knuckles be listed as another appearance, rather than saying that their first and only appearance was in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles? Technically, the Super Emeralds can only be declared to appear in a game if they are seen in it. So if they appear in Sonic and Knuckles and are without a doubt the Super Emeralds, then they can be said to have appeared there.Ultrasonic9000 (talk) 16:22, July 2, 2014 (UTC)
I guess the question, then, is if there is doubt that the same exact greyed-out background sprites are to be considered the Super Emeralds (despite acting as more like decoration in Sonic & Knuckles). LinkTheLefty (talk) 16:39, July 2, 2014 (UTC)
