Conflicting Japanese release dates[]
Sonic Jam says that this was released in Japan 14 February 1997, the same day as Sonic & Knuckles Collection.
However, the game's old webpage says it was released 9 August 1996, the same day as Sonic CD PC: https://web.archive.org/web/20011102153445/http://sega.jp/pc/sonicsc/
http://sonic.sega.jp/SonicChannelOld/games/win/index.html
The oldest archived capture of the page is 2001, but since the copyright at the bottom reads "(C) SEGA ENTERPRISES, LTD. 1996", I'm inclined to believe that is the correct release date and Sonic Jam's date is an error.
Additionally, Screen Saver's model number is HCJ-0102, Sonic CD's is HCJ-0104 and S&K Collection's is HCJ-0108. If it was released after Sonic CD, then it shouldn't have an earlier model number.

- To confuse matters further, here's an older webpage, captured 24 December 1996: https://web.archive.org/web/19961224064352/http://www.sega.co.jp/sega/athome/pc/
- The Sonic Screen Saver page has a release date of "After October". Interestingly, the Sonic CD page says that it comes with a trial version of Sonic the Hedgehog The Screen Saver. So now I'm not sure what to believe! --IndigoPengi (talk) 22:33, February 24, 2019 (UTC)

- This 15 February 1997 capture says that the Screen Saver was released 14 February 1997. So it looks like Sonic Jam was correct all along, and the 1996 release date confusion could have been related to the trial version released with Sonic CD. --IndigoPengi (talk) 22:41, February 24, 2019 (UTC)
