Little Brother
I still wanna know more on there relationship, it interests me, for example in most manuals Sonic reconise his friend Tails like a little brother despite Sonic spending most of the time outside running across the world and Tails inside building stuff.
Not to mention that Tails is a little young to live alone and I am not talking about the fact he has an IQ way beyond his age, as well as a plane licence (Pressuming he has the right to fly a plane) I am just saying could an 8 year old kid with an IQ of 300 could really be responsable to live alone?
Could one say Sonic lives with Tails when he is not running or sonic looks after Tails like a family? perhaps living where Tails is... It really interest me and wanna know more on it.

it's simple, Tails looks up to sonic like an older brother, and Sonic treats Tails like a little brother. I'm judging by the fact that Tails's(?) house looks like his head, that Sonic dosen't live there and maybe due to his I.Q he is reponsible to look after himself. None of the charecters in this game besides cream actually have parents. Knuckles definately has none because he is the last of his kind. ( i do not find sonic chronicles canon..) sonic never mentioned his parents, amy never did either. Tails may very well have parents, maybe a single mom or something, but perhaps it is simply not important to the stories in the games. in the sonic /tails friendship, Sonic met him in the woods, where tails' "Friends" were picking on him severely. tails thought if he was with someone cool, like sonic, people wouldleave him alone. then finally, sonic found tails sleeping under his plane, and from that day on they were "like" brothers. i can see tails spending alot of time at sonic's house and vise versa. That would make some sense.
Cream is by herself most of the time, and she`s only six. And plus, he`s an animal. He could have been separated from his family at any time, so the living alone thing makes no sense.
But as for his and Sonic`s relationship, I think that Tails is an orphan, so like 190.82.148.24 (I`m assuming that`s your username) I think Sonic is his adopted brother.

I think people got this idea from mario and sonic at the olympic games. In the introruction video, they are seen playing table tennis against eachother. In mission mode for the ds, the goal of the last mission is to defeat the other character. I think that's how I remember it.

actually it states official in tails's words in the japenese english subs "Cosmo, I love you!!!" so cosmo don't count, it's cream and marine.

- 1.) I'll answer that with some questions. How can a hedgehog walk on two legs and run at supersonic speeds? How can a rabbit use their ears to fly? How can an echidna have super-strength? Game Physics, which don't follow real-world laws of physics/nature. In other words, don't look for a realistic answer to a question like that, because there isn't one.(Sorry if I came off a bit rude or arrogant with that, didn't mean-2.) I don't see how someone could mistake him for a squirrel. I mean cat, maybe, but I just don't see squirrel. 3.) - You know what, it doesn't really matter (in my opinion). It doesn't make any of us like the character any less. Another thing, Naruto is also actually voiced by a girl, but still a very popular manga/anime character, so why does it even matter who voices Tails? Do you dislike the voice? too many pictures
I propose removing at least HALF of the pictures of Tails in this article. Alot of them are redundant and not needed. Theres 4 pictures of him from from Sonic 2 alone and all they are are multiple poses.
A better organization is needed. Preferably something akin to a non-moving slideshow that highlights his changes in appearence over the years rather than just a bunch of SEGA-drawn pictures.

Year Tails was born
If Tails is 8, doesn't that mean he was born in 2001???
- Not at all, since Sonic characters don't have birth years. If that were true, Sonic would be 18 now, yet he stays 15 because Sonic characters don't age (ie: Sonic was 15 in Sonic 1, Sonic Adventure, and Sonic Unleashed... even though they were released in 1991, 1998 and 2008. Yeah, there has never been a mention as to what year things occur in the Sonic-World (or what year-measurements, for that matter), so the best guess is, that the games from the first one till Unleashed happened over the time-span of roughly 2 years - we can't speculate anything beyond that. - in Sonic X, when Chris came to Sonic's world, ten years had passed by in the human world, but only a couple months went by in Sonic's world. - You want to know how this happens? First,his mom would've had twins but as they were both just cells in the body one had started to die. THen,the dying cell might have merged with the other (Tails) and when tails was born so was a part of the once dying cell. It's pure survival.

- That seems to make a lot of sense. I suspect that he was just born that way, and he grew to enjoy them and learn to fly. The next question is, how can he rotate them 360 full degrees, and I have a solution to that too. For some reason or another, the joint of his tails must connect to some sort of fully rotatable ball joint or something. But they can't possibly let him fly. I originally had a concept that he could be born with ONE tail, and through...whatever...grew an extra one somehow. Meh, mixing Sonic and science gives very interesting results.

Comparisons
I just noticed something about tails that is similar to Amy unlike any character. It's nothing major, I just thought I'd point it out. I won't edit it yet as I'm not sure where to put it/if it is worth posting. The similarity is that they both have a tuft of fur on top of their head. I just need the go-ahead and I'll edit it. Not Like other Fox characters
I don't know if this is very important, but have you noticed that Tails isn't like other fox characters. In folk tales, mythology, and stuff like that, the fox is usually seen as sly and sneaky. They're usually portrayed as theives or tricksters. The only similarity between them and Tails is the looks and the intelligence. Another thing is that in mythology, foxes are often times the villains, while Tails is one of the good guys. Like I said, it's most likely not important, but I thought I'd just throw it out there. I think it's pretty cool that the creators kind of broke away from the norm with Tails. I mean, movies like the Fox and the Hound have a fox as a protagonist, but there aren't many. One thing strikes me as odd, though. Tails has NEVER been kidnapped! He's a really easy target, and he's closest to Sonic himself! Why can't Eggman see that?! I don't want Tails to be kidnapped, but It's just that Eggman is so dumb not to see that!

Okay, when the heck did Tails become 15?
Tails is 8. Tails has been officially 8 since Sonic Heroes (unless the older games' manuals state otherwise), and Sonic Channel's profile entry of the kid states his age to be 8 years.

in the trivia section , there is a part that reads that sonic 4:episode 2 is the first time since Sonic 2006 thAT A CHARACTER aside from sonic was playable in a main stream game. this isnt true because
- Sonic Unleashed:Gaia colosuos was playable in the final battle
- Sonic Colours:The Sonic Robos and Miis are playable in the Sonic Simulator7
- Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Metal Sonic is playable (in episode Metal)
i think this trivia should be removed

Tails celebrates his 20th birthday on November 20th, THIS YEAR! I'm so excited! I want to lead the celebration of 20 Years of Tails to show the world that the main character isn't the only character, and that the second fiddle completes the orchestra! How did Sonic and Tails meet?
Swamp? Landing on Sonic's head? Painting Sonic's plane? Which is the REAL explanation? I think it's the one where Eggman captures Tails and wants a ransom of 6 Chaos Emeralds, because it's in a game, and the game is pretty much based on said explanation.

- Well in Sonic Adventure, Tails has a dream of Sonic running through the jungles of Mystic Ruins as he tries to follow. Some speculate that this is their first meeting but I personally believe it is just a dream sequence. One story I think is canon is that Tails simply started following Sonic. Tails = Youmu Konpaku?!
A CRAZY thought that lingered in my head when editing this page at times, AND I'M DEAD SORRY for those trivia changes...I wasn't used to talk pages yet. -__-lllllll
Anyway, anyone a fan of Touhou Project here? What made me a HUGE VA buff today is the fact that in the second game of the Koumajou Densetsu series (A Touhou parody of Castlevania), that game has voice acting, like Musou Kakyoku.
Two of my faves are Sakuya Izayoi and Youmu Konpaku; Youmu of all people in that game HAD TO HAVE THE SAME JAPANESE VOICE AS TAILS. No doubt it was confirmed to be Ryou Hirohashi herself. AnimeNewsNetwork and Wikipedia says so.
This alone could make me NEVER unhear Youmu from Tails and vice versa, EVER. Youmu in KMJ II sounds like a really mean 16 year old Tails to me. This also made me find out Youmu and Tails are MORE SIMILAR THAN I THOUGHT.
- Both have blue eyes.
- Both have two of something. Two swords and two bodies for Youmu (she's born as a half-human half-hybrid with a spirit half) and two tails for well, Tails. :\
- Both are rather....young in a way, which conflicts with their personalities of some sort.
- Both have inconsistent artworks. Tails' shoes are often at times shown with or without rusts while Touhou characters HIGHLY vary in fanart. Both their "head-parts" (Youmu's bow and Tails' tuffs of hair) are often alternating from left to right.
- Both have skill in their profession and tend to be proud of it.
- Both are rather Jack-Of-All-Stats type characters in a way. And can also achieve flight.
- Both have ironic fears. Tails is afraid of lightning, but can use Thunder Shoot as a Flight-Type character. Both Youmu and Tails share phasmophobia, which is fear of ghosts. Ironic in that Youmu's mistress is a ghost, and that Youmu's a half-ghost herself.
- Both look up to a surrogate sibling figure. Sakuya's there for Youmu, though unlike Yuyuko, Sakuya fits this place much more than the aforementioned. Both Sakuya and Sonic are even themed with blue, do things with little special reason, and even have a distaste for immortality and age-tampering. Though Sakuya may have a more complex personality compared to the Blue Blur.
- This also forms Touhou parallels to Sonic characters as well, such as (most of these are my opinion so please forgive me):
- Hong Meiling=Chip+Knuckles (They irriate their blue companions and are older than them, can't forget the power type affinity and red hair! Imagine Meiling eating grapes and chocolate.... Also, Meiling like Chip and Knuckles act as a foil somewhat to their blue companion, and are for comic relief.... :3)
- Marisa Kirisame=Rouge ("Burrowing" as a treasure thief, makes sense right? And at times it tends to be "important" in both ways.)
- Eiki Shiki=Silver (Need for justice, and quick to judge. In Eiki's case this is no thanks to the fandom flanderizing that part of her.)
- Komachi Onozuka=Blaze (In terms of role, though both of them prove to be brutal if angered, even if they don't show it.)
- Remilia Scarlet=Amy (In terms of role, though Remilia's not crazy for Sakuya. Dammit Yuri fandom. :P)
- Flandre Scaret=Cream (DON'T ASK. JUST DON'T.)
- Yuyuko Saigyouji=Big (A bit lax, but Big doesn't eat THAT much like Yuyuko.....does he?)
- Reimu Hakurei=Shadow (Anti-hero theme, and Reimu may be less easy-going than one thinks. Plus both have a hefty amount of controversy surrounding them, as well as some divisive fanbases. Also, Reimu's Reverie Vocation HIGHLY resembles Chaos Blast, and like the Chaos Emeralds, Reimu's Yin-Yang Orbs are the source of this power and there are SEVEN of them. And look at their colors as well. Not to mention they can control the very essence of time and space with their powers.)
- Aya Shameimaru=Jet (Their pompus arrogance and affinity for speed in the sky exceeds all.)
- Momiji Inubashiri=Wave (Personality is too different however)
- Hatate Himekaidou=Storm (Possible devotion to their speedy arrogant bird counterparts...and tend to fall behind them often. Not only is Storm dumb muscle, Hatate....just gets things off of Google.)
- Yukari Yakumo=Eggman? (Yukari sadly is outta Eggman's league. BY VERY.)
- Ran Yakumo=Orbot (Ergo...always pointing out errors to annoy people ergo, being an ass about your behavior ergo.)
- Chen=Cubot (I DON'T GIT IT.)
- The Fairies and Yukkuris are a crack parallel to the Chaos and Omochaos, respectively. XP Though however, the Yukkuris are more like the Chaos via verbal tics "Chao chao! and Yuuuuuuu~", and at least like the Omochaos, fairies in Gensoukyou aren't too stupid to speak.
- This also forms Touhou parallels to Sonic characters as well, such as (most of these are my opinion so please forgive me):
It gets worse in that I made a Touhou Dream Cast list on behindthevoiceactos.com I've worked on a year ago. OVER 80 characters have both JPN AND ENG Voice Actors DC'd for them. Luci Christian as Sakuya was decided a long while ago, but for Youmu? IT JUST HAD TO BE KATE HIGGINS (aka Tails' new English voice; first choices were either Laura Bailey or Michelle Ruff, but Higgins+Christian is starting to become an interesting relationship combo to me nowadays). Go fig, can't unhear Sakura Haruno from her.
Another irony, Hong "China" Meiling has Laura Bailey and Ryouko Shiraishi for her DC'd voices, making her Chip/Light Gaia in JPN and Knuckles' genderbent wife in ENG. -__-; SneaselSawashiro (talk) 20:11, November 11, 2012 (UTC)

If you look at it, you'll notice:
- SHOT is likely based on Pulseman and Megaman.
- POW, after flicking, takes on a position similar to the Klax hand.
- TRAP is a ChuChu

Well the Trap is known to be a reference to ChuChu Rocket, as it looks almost exactly the same as the ChuChus and it's called the Chu2 Bomb. I'm not sure about the other moves, but I doubt they're references to those things. Myself 123 20:05, November 22, 2012 (UTC)
