Explaining the Transition in Sonic 1 and the Early Sonic 2 prototype[]

SPZ: Spring Yard Zone

LZ: Labyrinth Zone

SLZ: Star Light Zone

MZ: Marble Zone

GHZ: Green Hill Zone

EHZ: Emerald Hill Zone

HPZ: Sonic 2 Hidden Palace Zone

OOZ: Oil Ocean Zone

Remember the labyrinth zone? I do. According to the Sonic 1 level select, Labyrinth was originally the second zone. If this made the cut, the order would have been like this:

GHZ-LZ-MZ

This, however, got changed to this: SYZ-LZ-SLZ

In the nick arcade sonic 2 prototype, it's placement got changed again.

HPZ-LZ-EHZ
