For consideration

I think creating a page for a customisable character in a series that generally doesn't have customisable characters can be tricky. However, one wiki that I think does it quite well is the Dragon Ball wiki with their Future Warrior page. It may be a good idea to use this page as a "guideline" for how we present information here. Myself 123 22:04, May 17, 2017 (UTC)

What a funny coincidence! I used that exact page when editing this one.Ultrasonic9000 (talk) 08:39, May 18, 2017 (UTC)
A funny coincidence indeed! Well the link to the page is there now if anyone else wishes to edit. Also, what do you think about adding a description for the wolf poster boy? Provided he remains prominent in marketing of course. Myself 123 13:32, May 18, 2017 (UTC)
Well, if that figure rises to prominence, it would be an observation worth noting.Ultrasonic9000 (talk) 17:03, May 18, 2017 (UTC)

Avatar Voice Actors

Does anyone know of who exactly provides the six possible voices for the Avatar? Given certain similarities and the lack of much new cast members, I'm assuming that most were done by some of the main cast. Anyone else have any ideas on who does this voices? 愛 日音 (talk) 22:54, November 24, 2017 (UTC)

The Avatar voices were definitely done by the English cast. Only they are credited. Not sure who did them though. DeCool99 (talk) 16:47, November 25, 2017 (UTC)
I'll go through them all at some point and try and figure out who does who. 愛 日音 (talk) 20:36, November 25, 2017 (UTC)

'Corvin the bird'?

In this post, the last tag is 'we're just going to name this one corvin'. Would it be okay to add this mention in the trivia section alongside the one about the bird wearing a black shirt that in-game is purple?

Jesse (talk) 16:11, November 25, 2017 (UTC)

Not really, seeing how it hasn't been widely accepted by fans, unlike something such as Eggette DeCool99 (talk) 16:47, November 25, 2017 (UTC)
For bird's shirt being changed - it had been changed during the developing, much like in Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Link originally was planning to have the magic, but that was scrapped when Twilight Princess was finalized. How did we know? Look at the back of that case of the game.
So for seriously answer to that reason of changing the shirt color; I would guess that SEGA didn't want to experience the same thing that Nintendo/GameFreak had done in the past - Pokémon. Jynx, for some reasons, was originally a black Pokémon, but later changed their skin color to purple to avoid racist/racism. SEGA just changed the color to keep that bird from being completely in the dark.
Apologize if I am out of the place to make a response. FredCat 16:55, November 25, 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, kinda. You didn't actually answer the question DeCool99 (talk) 17:01, November 25, 2017 (UTC)
The question asking about the Bird Avatar being named "Corvin"? Well, alright. I would agree with you, DeCool - no need to give that kind of name. It's like the "Rookie" given by Knuckles, so I don't think it fitted in Trivia. It suited better in Infobox/Profile Box more than in Trivia. But if that's a fan name, then it's no need. Sonic Forces comic

That's not the Avatar in the Sonic Forces comic, that's just some random Resistance member. The Avatar joins the Resistance at the beginning of the game, the character in the comic is already a Resistance member. Myself 123 16:46, June 6, 2018 (UTC)

True, as that Resistance member, or Soldier - if you preferred - was able to speak, in where Avatar couldn't, beside grunts and growls in pain. SEGA's "Link"/"Mario"/etc. that are playable but doesn't have an ability to speak. But hey, at least Infinite made the appearance in the comic. FredCat 16:50, June 6, 2018 (UTC)
Aaron Webber stated himself on a Sega podcast that this was the Avatar. There were discussions about that back, and it was confirmed back there too.Ultrasonic9000 (talk) 17:03, June 6, 2018 (UTC)
I don't remember him saying that, I remember Ian Flynn stating he was a custom character, but not that it's the exact same character as the Avatar. I don't see why they'd give the Avatar a canon appearance or a backstory that contradicts what we're told in the game. Myself 123 17:10, June 6, 2018 (UTC)
Okay, so maybe it was Ian Flynn (I don't remember that too well either), but if they say it is a custom character, then it is the Avatar. Whether it makes sense or not, it is how it is.Ultrasonic9000 (talk) 17:23, June 6, 2018 (UTC)
I don't think that's what he meant by that. Myself 123 17:27, June 6, 2018 (UTC)
It says right here at 37:40. "Aaron Webber: the first story details a little look at the Chaotix, and at one of the custom characters people get to make in the game." It is clear confirmation that this is the Avatar. Plus, this character's lack of courage in the comics align with the character in the game.Ultrasonic9000 (talk) 17:30, June 6, 2018 (UTC)
But he says it's a custom character, not the custom character, I don't think he was trying to say it's the same character. It still doesn't line up with him joining the Resistance at the start of the game. Myself 123 17:38, June 6, 2018 (UTC)
"one of the custom characters people get to make" = refers to one of the forms the Avatar can take. Besides, the Avatar was clearly involved with the Resistance even before joining their ranks at the beginning of the game. In Sonic Forces, there is a flashback to a few months prior to the game that shows the Avatar being involved in a squad fighting Infinite. Why would they do that if they were not part of the Resistance back then?Ultrasonic9000 (talk) 17:44, June 6, 2018 (UTC)

←As in he's a character designed to look like a created character. As for the flashback, it doesn't look like he's involved with the squad at all, he looks like a civilian who got caught up in the fight. If it was suppose to be the same character, wouldn't they have mentioned he was already part of the Resistance? Myself 123 17:53, June 6, 2018 (UTC)

That is a bit presumptuous if you ask me. I can't claim what exactly led up to that moment, but to me, his actions in that scene confirm it is the same character: like in the comics, the character hid when trouble arose.Ultrasonic9000 (talk) 18:01, June 6, 2018 (UTC)
I would say it's presumptuous to think he is part of the Resistance group; he's not dressed in Resistance clothes or has a Wispon. There's no indication that he's with them at all, it just looks like he's a civilian from the town that's being attacked. I'll leave it for now, but I'm not convinced that's the same character. Myself 123 18:09, June 6, 2018 (UTC)
Maybe for now we'll leave the articles separate, at least until we get more clear confirmation. We can't really tell who it is. DeCool99 (talk) 18:41, June 6, 2018 (UTC)
What do you have in mind?Ultrasonic9000 (talk) 19:34, June 6, 2018 (UTC)
May I add something from my mind? The comic part is perhaps in middle of the Sonic Forces game, where Classic Sonic's role is playing. We were clearly not see what Avatar and Modern Sonic were up to at all. But as far as we knew that Modern Sonic suffered the injury, or at least imprisoned in Death Egg.
But again, like what Myself 123 said is true, this "a custom character" Avatar is entire separate character, but... As far as I can see; "Comic Avatar" is an orange cat character dressing in military dress, included protecting helmet, while "Game Avatar" started out as the red wolf character, down to his fur and his gloves/shoes.
So perhaps it would be separate sections, but not separate article into two. Like Prototype Phantom Ruby, it would just waste a new article just for Comic Avatar. FredCat 20:54, June 6, 2018 (UTC)
I was thinking that we don't have the info from the "Moment of Truth" comic on the Avatar's page as it has not been truly confirmed whether or not it is them. And we can't really make another page for the rookie in the comic since he does not have an actual name. So really, we remove the info from the Avatar's page until we can be sure that it is the Avatar in that comic. We can ask Ian on the Bumblekast for more insight. DeCool99 (talk) 00:05, June 7, 2018 (UTC)

←True, that do make sense. FredCat 00:08, June 7, 2018 (UTC)
