The Swordsman Guards do not appear often in Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, but become more common as the player advances. They are first encountered in The Pit. In battle, they attack with sword swings and can dodge attacks by dashing from side to side or backwards. For protection against the player's attack they use their shields which can bounce back regular attacks. To remove this shield, the player either has to pull it away by using the Enerbeam on it or hit it with a Charge Attack. Additionally, they can make themselves invulnerable to damage and unfazed by the player's attacks for a few seconds by glowing blue.

The Swordsman Guard is an enemy that appears in Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric. They are a model of Destruction Troops and a more advanced version of the Swordsman Trooper that wields a shield for protection.

Appearance

The Swordsman Guards are identical to the stronger variant of the Swordsman Trooper, being humanoid robots with white armor, red joints and cyan lights. They have slightly short arms and legs compared to their torso, pointy shoulders, a clawed three-fingered right hand, a glowing cyan sword for their left hand resembling a long tuning fork, no visible neck, a cyan eye with a slit-like pupil and a forked horn on top for a head, and a ring-shaped collar.

Power and abilities

The Swordsman Guards possess retractable swords on their left arm for combat. Likewise, they have at least passable skills in swordsmanship, using their sword for both offense and guarding. Additionally, they can temporarily cloak their entire bodies in a blue force field which make them invulnerable to harm, and have jets equipped on their backs which let them perform small midair dashes.

Weapons

The Swordsman Guards each wield a metal frame on their right arm which can generate a blue energy shield. These shields can deflect weak attacks, but break under powerful strikes.

Overview

The Swordsman Guards were created by Lyric the Last Ancient over a thousand years ago where they aided with his schemes to destroy the earth. When Lyric was imprisoned before completing his plans, the Swordsman Guards were abandoned, though Lyric left some of them behind to be found so the finders could set him free to learn the Swordsman Guards' secrets. When Lyric finally escaped, he reactivated and/or reclaimed all his Swordsman Guards.

The Swordsman Guards do not appear often in Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, but become more common as the player advances. They are first encountered in The Pit. In battle, they attack with sword swings and can dodge attacks by dashing from side to side or backwards. For protection, they use their shields which can bounce back the player's regular attacks. To remove this shield, the player either has to pull it away by using the Enerbeam on it or hit it with a Charge Attack. Additionally, they can make themselves invulnerable to damage and unfazed by the player's attacks for a few seconds by glowing blue.

The Swordsman Guards are fairly tough opponents due to their abilities and can both deal massive damage and have much more health that the Swordsman Troopers. When defeated, they release varying amount of Robot Scrap and three Rings.

After Team Sonic defeated Lyric, all the Swordsman Guards were subsequently scrapped.
