The Sword Launch is an Item Box power-up that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series
Description [ ] The Sword Launch's icon takes the form of Valiant Tails ' sword launching with a yellow aura, leaving the trail. In gameplay, the aforementioned sword launches forward then move backward, leaving yellow trail in its wake.
Overview [ ] In gameplay, the Sword Launch can only be obtained at random from Item Boxes by Valiant Tails . As with most other Items, Metal Sonic and Metal Sonic Mach 3.0 can also use the Sword Launch if they use the Steal Item to steal it from the aforementioned user.
Once obtained, the player can utilize the Sword Launch by pressing its icon on the bottom of the HUD. When used, the user sets a loose sword that travels down the lane they were deployed on in front of the user. After flying down the lane for a moment though, the sword will ricochet in the opposite direction on the lane they are on. Opponents caught in the path of the sword will take damage, causing them to lose Rings and slow down momentarily. Not just dealt damage, aforementioned opponents will slowly drain out more Rings for a short amount of time. In addition, the Sword Launch can travel through obstacles and will continue moving after hitting rival characters. To avoid the Sword Launch, the playable character has to step out of its lane.
The Sword Launch can also be upgraded by leveling the user up to level 6 and 12 respectively. For each upgrade, the player will increase the chance to pickup two Sword Launches.
