The Survival Knife[1][2] (軍用ナイフ[3],Gun'yō Naifu?, lit. "Military Knife"), also known as the Combat Knife[4], is an object that appears in Shadow the Hedgehog. A standard weapon used by GUN foot soldiers, it is a close-quarters combat-type weapon usable by both enemies and the player.
The Survival Knife is a very short, steel knife with a black hilt.
Overview[]
In gameplay, the Survival Knives can only be found in certain Stages, such as the The Doom and Westopolis. They can be wielded by GUN Soldiers, who will use them against the player.
Survival Knives can be dropped by defeated enemies that wield them or released from breakable Containers. Touching one will make the playable character pick it up automatically and pressing // (whether on the ground or in mid-air) will cause him to attack with it. As a close quarters combat weapon, the Survival Knife is designed for face-to-face combat. By comparison, it has a short attack range and does not deal much damage, making it one of the worst weapons in the game. A Survival Knife can swung a total of six times, and once those tries are spent, it becomes useless. However, it can be reloaded with another six attacks by picking up another Survival Knife.

If GUN Soldiers are healed with the Heal Cannon or Heal Units while they're holding the Survival Knife, they will salute with the weapon going through their chest.
