Super Shadow is a transformation that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog film series produced by Paramount Pictures and its spin-offs. It is a transformation of Shadow the Hedgehog, achieved by harnessing the power of the seven Chaos Emeralds.
Appearance[]
As Super Shadow, Shadow's black fur turns ivory, although his red, white, and peach fur remain the same (additionally, when viewed up close, Shadow's individual quills can be seen with energy moving through them). Due to his eyes already being red, his eyes likewise do not change, however they do feature a subtle pinkish hue. Because his quills are already turned upwards in his base form, this too remains the same as Super Shadow. His body overall sparks with a magenta aura. The divots in the center of his limiter rings glow with golden energy.
History[]
Sonic the Hedgehog 3[]

In Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Super Shadow first appeared when gaining the energy of the seven Chaos Emeralds after knocking them out of Super Sonic. When Sonic transformed back into his super form, Shadow had also transformed into his own super form, blocking an attack from Super Sonic as he agreed with Sonic's previous statement of ending this. The two hedgehogs exchanged blows, with Super Shadow taking multiple hits from Super Sonic as they fought, flying through multiple locations around Earth, before they crashed into Rome. Super Shadow then taunted Super Sonic about how the latter's anger had made him abandon his friends and family, especially Tom. Super Sonic angrily punched Super Shadow in response, sending him flying into the moon, where Super Shadow lost his power shortly after, reverting to his normal form.

After the two hedgehogs reconciled their differences and made it their goal to stop the Eclipse Cannon from firing on the Earth, Shadow transformed back into Super Shadow, rushing towards the Eclipse Cannon with Super Sonic, with Gerald sending an army of Gun Hunter's in response to stop the two hedgehogs. Super Shadow and Super Sonic destroyed all the attacking robots, but failed to stop the cannon from firing. In response, Super Shadow and Super Sonic directly blocked the laser from hitting the Earth until the laser's blast was redirected to hit the moon.

After the laser finished firing, Super Shadow checked on Eggman and he reveals that the Eclipse Cannon's reactor core was going to explode and crash into the Earth. Super Shadow then instructed Eggman to buy some time by stabilizing the core until he could push the cannon away from the Earth, teleporting back outside. Super Shadow then removed his limiters from his hands, pushing the station away a safe distance as the reactor core exploded, with Super Shadow being presumed dead, but Super Shadow proved to survive the blast, having reverted back to his normal form on Earth to reclaim one of his limiter rings.

Sonic Dash[]
In Sonic Dash, as a form of promotion for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Super Shadow makes an appearance as a playable character under the name "Movie Super Shadow". In this game, he can be unlocked after obtaining 500 of his Character Cards.

Sonic Forces: Speed Battle[]
In Sonic Forces: Speed Battle, as a form of promotion for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Super Shadow was added as a playable character to the game's roster as a part of the version 5.4.0 update. Similar to Super Sonic, Super Shadow starts out in his base form with a golden aura when a race begins and will only turn into Super Shadow while using Super Form. He has the following gameplay characteristics:

In Sonic Dash+ and Sonic Prime Dash, as a form of promotion for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Super Shadow makes an appearance as a playable character under the name "Movie Super Shadow". In this game, he can be unlocked after obtaining 500 of his Character Tokens.

Powers and abilities[]

In tandem with his normal abilities, Super Shadow presumably has the same godlike power as Super Sonic, being very powerful and able to turn thoughts into reality.
Super Shadow displays a great level of strength, capable of matching and potentially surpassing Super Sonic, as upon the first punch thrown at him, Super Shadow was capable of stopping the blow, showing no signs of damage, while also clashing with Super Sonic multiple times without showing signs of fatigue.
Super Shadow also displays a significant increase of speed, significantly faster compared to his normal state, as shown during his battle with Super Sonic as he was able to keep up with him while moving across the earth in seconds, and even fast enough to the point they weren’t visible to Robotnik and Gerald who were observing the battle.
Alongside the increased strength and speed, Super Shadow displays a high level of durability, being able to withstand a punch strong enough to send him to the moon from the Earth, as well as stopping the Eclipse Cannon's direct laser blast with the help of Super Sonic, even proving capable of maintaining his super state when Sonic was incapable of maintaining the form after deflecting the cannon's blast, with Super Shadow even capable of surviving the explosion of the Eclipse Cannon, which would have destroyed the Earth. Super Shadow's durability does seem to have a potential limit, as the punch Super Sonic used to send him to the moon drained his Super State's energy, with Super Shadow reverting to his normal state.

Super Shadow also has the ability to create Chaos Spears, creating multiple arrows of Chaos Energy which easily destroy the Eclipse Cannon robots.
Super Shadow also can remove the limiter rings on his wrists to access more power, being capable of directly pushing against the falling Eclipse Cannon, and eventually pushing the Cannon away from the Earth before its detonation.
Also in this form, Shadow's chaos energy changes from orange to a magenta red color.
Weaknesses[]

If struck too hard, he will revert to his base form as shown when Super Sonic punched him hard enough to send him flying straight into the moon in a matter of seconds.
Trivia[]
- The glowing cuts on Super Shadow's limiter rings bear a striking resemblance to Super Silver's glove and boot cuffs.
- In the November trailer, the scene of Super Shadow blocking Super Sonic's attacks was edited to have their base forms instead. This was likely done to avoid spoilers.
