The Super Hang-On (スーパーハングオン,Sūpāhanguon?) is a recurring Bike type Extreme Gear in the Sonic Riders series. When in use, the Super Hang-On will play the theme music for Sega's arcade game Super Hang-On in the background.
The Super Hang-On made its first appearance in Sonic Riders. According to its profile, it is a collector's Extreme Gear and has great value. It is unlocked after achieving a Gold Rank on all the missions in the game and can thereafter be bought at the shop for 2,500 Rings.
The design for the Super Hang-On looks like a white and blue motorcycle with red highlights, while having the Arcade Cabinet for the game Super Hang-On serving as its front and fork.
Abilities and Traits
As a Bike type Extreme Gear in Sonic Riders, the Super Hang-On is more powerful, but less maneuverable and less fuel-efficient than most other types of Extreme Gears.
When the Super Hang-On is selected for a race, the theme music "Outride a Crisis" from Sega's real-life arcade game, Super Hang-On, will be played instead of the normal stage's background music.
The Super Hang-On made a reappearance later on in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity. However, unlike other Extreme Gear seen so far in the series, the Super Hang-On did not appear in this game as an individual Gear of its own. Instead, it served as a transformed version of the Hang-On that would appear whenever the player would activate the Hang-On's Gear Part "BGM Change"; when activating this Gear Part through Gear Change, the Hang-On would automatically turn into the Super Hang-On. The reason for this ability to change between forms is according to the Hang-On's game profile, due to the Hang-On containing the soul of a legendary motorcycle.
