The Super-powered 'Bots is a group that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a group of robots created after Dr. Ivo Robotnik caught his robot aid, Crabmeat, collecting comic books. Inspired by the super-powered characters found within, he had these robots constructed. However, they proved ineffective in defeating Sonic the Hedgehog and were subsequently destroyed.[1]
History[]
Dr. Ivo Robotnik's Tyranny[]
The Super-Powered 'Bots were created after Dr. Robotnik caught his robot aide, Crabmeat, reading comic books. Inspired by the super-powered characters found within upon hearing Crabmeat suggesting using them as templates for killer robots to destroy Sonic, he had these robots constructed. When he later lured Sonic out of hiding with a phony news broadcast of his intentions to turn the edge of the Great Forest into a waste dump, Robotnik summoned his first Super-Powered 'Bot: 'Botman. While 'Botman could stand up to Sonic's strength, he was ultimately outclassed by his speed and dismantled by the hedgehog in a flash. Robotnik then got ready to sic his "Wolverine Bot" on Sonic, only to get a Wolvurkel robot delivered to him instead due to a communication glitch. Though humiliated, Robotnik had his Spawnmower take on Sonic next. To stop the robot from destroying the Great Forest, Sonic pulled its spark pull while it stood still to pose and pushed it off Robotnik Ridge. Robotnik proceeded to sent Magbot, Captain Marbot, and Mighty 'Bot at Sonic in quick succession, only for Sonic to destroy them just as quickly. With all of the Super-Powered 'Bots destroyed, Sonic got ready to take on Robotnik, only to slip in some leaked oil from the Super-Powered 'Bots' remains, which gave Robotnik the change to get away.[1]
Trivia[]
- Each of the Super-powered 'Bots are parodies of characters (mostly superheroes) from other media:
- When Dr. Robotnik takes out his second Super-Powered 'Bot, it was going to be based on Wolverine from the X-Men but ended up with a robot based on Steve Urkel from Family Matters. Jaleel White was known for playing both Urkel and Sonic in Sonic the Hedgehog television series, which Sonic paid further reference to in Sonic the Hedgehog #8 by remarking that Wolvurkel "sounded familiar."
