"Stardust Speedway" is the theme of the sixth and penultimate round from Sonic the Hedgehog CD, Stardust Speedway. It is commonly known as Metal Sonic's theme song in subsequent games, due to its usage in boss fights against him after its debut.

The song is generally associated with Stardust Speedway, the sixth and penultimate round in Sonic the Hedgehog CD. The song changes depending on the time status of the stage; there's past versions, present versions, good future versions, and bad future versions. Its bad future versions are heavily associated with the boss fight against Metal Sonic, regardless if the player has obtained a good future on all two previous acts of Stardust Speedway.
Legacy[]
The Japanese/European version of the song was remixed numerous times. In all versions of Sonic Generations, a remix of the song plays during the boss fight against Metal Sonic. In the console/PC version of said-game, another remix of it plays in White Space. It was later remixed in Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II during the boss fight against Metal Sonic in Death Egg mk.II Zone. In Sonic Mania, the song was given a new remix in Stardust Speedway Zone, as well as the boss fight against Metal Sonic.
The North American version of the song was also remixed numerous times. In the console/PC version of Sonic Generations, a remix of the song can be obtained after collecting 16 out of 90 musical notes in total. In Sonic Forces, it was remixed once more and was used in Red Gate Bridge, exclusively during the boss fight against Metal Sonic. It later reappeared in Team Sonic Racing as Metal Sonic's Team Ultimate theme.
