Star Pointers (アイスダス Icedus?) are a hovering badniks created by Doctor Robotnik, which appear at IceCap Zone in Sonic the Hedgehog 3. It is similar to Orbinaut with light-grey color scheme and orange line, but it also has four balls spinning around its central sphere that are made of ice.
Description
The Star Pointer slowly moves around and when it sees the player, it slowly fires off its four balls of sharp ice one at a time. It's useful to have a Lightning Shield on when this badnik is near the player, as ice balls will disintegrate when they come in contact with a shield. To destroy the lone sphere that's left, use Spin Attack or Spin Jump to it.
Star Pointers also make short appearance in Fleetway's Sonic the Comic issue 41, as joining with Penguinators in an assault on the Ice Cap Zone against Sonic the Hedgehog and Knuckles the Echidna. Even as these badniks released their icy balls to them, Sonic and Knuckles still managed to find vulnerable spots and destroy them.
