Star Pointer from Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
Star Pointer,[1] later known in Japan as Icedus (アイスダス?),[citation needed] is a hovering Badnik created by Dr. Robotnik which appears at IceCap Zone in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles. It is similar to Orbinaut with light-grey color scheme and orange line, but it also has four balls spinning around its central sphere that are made of ice.
Description
The Star Pointer slowly moves around and when it sees the player, it slowly fires off its four balls of sharp ice one at a time. It's useful to have an elemental shield on when this badnik is near the player, as ice balls will disintegrate when they come in contact with the shield. The player can also go through the ice spikes to defeat the Star Pointer directly by using Insta-Shield at the right timing, with Knuckles, he can simply glide into them.
Star Pointers also make a short appearance in Fleetway's Sonic the Comic issue 41, as joining with Penguinators in an assault on the Ice Cap Zone against Sonic the Hedgehog and Knuckles the Echidna. Even as these badniks released their icy balls to them, Sonic and Knuckles still managed to find vulnerable spots and destroy them.
