Splash Canyon (スプラッシュキャニオン Supurasshukyanion?) is a course in Sonic Riders, and the second course in Team Heroes' story. It is a mountainous region with various rivers and caves.

Description[]

Splash Canyon takes place in a canyon during daytime. The platforms here are rocks that are peach in color and have some green vegetation on the sides, as well as wooden ramps and bridges. Some of Splash Canyon also has large ponds of water and waterfalls. The cave sections here are dark and small, albeit short, and some of them have light blue crystals.

Story[]

Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles are walking through the canyon, discussing what Eggman might be up to. Then, Amy all of the sudden shows up and announces that she is in the race, too. Meanwhile, Tails is contemplating the symbol he saw on the thieves' board, and realizes that it is the mark of the Babylon Rogues. He explains about how in ancient times they were legendary thieves who lived in a floating island known as Babylon Garden. However, the island was cast into the depths of the earth and the Rogues were scattered. But according to legend, there was a treasure on the island. Also, he mentions that the Rogues are rumored to be Extreme Gear specialists. At this point, one of the Rogues shows up, a female named Wave the Swallow. She notices Tails holding Sonic's gear, the Blue Star, but after inspecting it, she deems it to be junk. Everyone is flabbergasted at this, and just as Tails was about to snap, the announcer announced that the second race was about to begin.

Gameplay[]

Much like Metal City, Splash Canyon is a very fast course, with some portions being very wide and open, while others are thin and have little space to traverse through. However, there is no danger for the player to fall into a bottomless pit. Unlike Metal City however, Splash Canyon has sharper turns that are harder to pass through. As with most other courses in Sonic Riders, the main goal of Splash Canyon is to win a race by different methods.

Splash Canyon features most of the gimmicks that were previously seen in Metal City, as well as the portions that are exclusive to specific types of characters. Unlike Metal City though, Splash Canyon makes a heavier emphasis on Air Tricks, with several sections forcing the player to perform these techniques to gain extra Air and access quicker sections that are harder to access.
