The Spinning Platform[1] is a gimmick that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a rotating plaform that is somewhat hard to use.

Description[]

Spinning Platforms vary in size, but keep the same general appearance. Being akin to round wheels, they are always seen from the side, since they only appear in the 2.5D side-scrolling sections. While mainly red, they have a blue circle with a yellow star in the middle, similar to bumpers. Larger ones have a silver circle surrounding the blue circle. Yellow arrows on the red section of the Spinning Platform indicate which direction they are spinning.

Overview[]

In the console/PC version of Sonic Generations, the player encounters the Spinning Platforms in Topsy-Turvy, Ring Time Challenge 2 and Dash Ring 1-2-3. In gameplay, they are platforms that spin so that the player must balance on them if they want to stay on them. Most of the time, they are necessary to continue through the Act, and they usually spin in the opposite direction that the player is heading in order to slow down the player. An easy way to use these platforms is to jump quickly off them in the desired direction almost immediately after landing on them.
