The Speed Jungle Zone mini-boss[note 1] is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a giant mosquito-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman during the Northstar Islands incident.

Appearance[]

The Speed Jungle Zone mini-boss is a giant mosquito Badnik with a purple and silver color scheme. Its body is composed of a giant sphere, used to contain the giant-sized Flicky powering it. Attached to it are the head, black eyes with cyan irises, a grapple, purple/gray striped tail and two transparent wings. In addition, its lower part body is covered by spikes.

History[]

Sonic Superstars[]

In Sonic Superstars, Sonic and his friends would encounter the Badnik in Speed Jungle Zone Act 1, though it would be easily defeated, freeing the giant-sized Flicky powering it.

In Trip's Story, the Speed Jungle Zone mini-boss would be rebuilt and used against Trip. However, the Badnik would suffer a similar fate to the original, being destroyed and freeing the big Flicky trapped within it.

Powers and abilities[]

The Speed Jungle Zone mini-boss is shown to be capable of flying, using the grappling hook attached to its head and create energy spheres. In the third phase, the Badnik is also capable of dashing forward near the ground.

Weaknesses[]

The entire body of the Speed Jungle Zone mini-boss, with the exception of the lower part, which is covered by spikes, is vulnerable to attacks. Additionally, the Badnik's grappling hook can get stuck into the ground, allowing the player to use it in order to attack.

Battle[]

This mini-boss is a boss of Speed Jungle Zone in Sonic Superstars. It is fought with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy and/or Trip at the end of Act 1.

Boss guide[]

This battle is divided in three phases, each needing the mini-boss to be damaged only once to progress in the fight.

The mini-boss will try to defeat the player dropping a batch of energy spheres from the top of the screen or targeting the player with it's stinger then shooting it where the target was last seen. The stinger attack will get the grapple stuck in the ground for a bit, the player can then run, spin dash or drop dash on the stinger to reach the boss, although it is possible to hit it with Avatar.

The only difference between the three phases of the fight is the terrain the mini-boss is fought on, with phase one having a perfectly flat ground, phase two having three holes in the ground (none of them being bottomless pits), and phase three having two holes in the ground spikes come out of at regular intervals.
