Speed Bot

The Speed-Bot.

The Speed-Bot is a character that appears in the Sonic Underground television series. It is a roboticized tortoise-like robot made up of some of the fastest creatures on Mobius.

Although Dr. Robotnik knew that it was not as fast as Sonic the Hedgehog, he still used the Speed-Bot as bait, announcing the Mobius Challenge Race in which the winner would be proclaimed the fastest being on Mobius. Convinced that Sonic would not be able to pass up the challenge, Robotnik ordered his Swatbots to fire on the winner.[1]

However, Sonic did pass up on the challenge, realizing that it was a fool-proof trap, and the Speed-Bot ended up racing a disguised Dingo instead. Dingo forced the Speed-Bot off the track, at which point it bounced off the wall and landed on top of Bartleby, who was sitting in the stands.[1]

  • The Speed-Bot resembles a tortoise, which (like hedgehogs) are usually regarded as slow creatures. This may be a reference to Aesop's fable, The Tortoise and the Hare.
